    Default Call AJ?

So Im playing in a casino in a sixty person tournemanet with about 30 people left in. I have about 6000 in chips and we started with 1500. Im on the button and 2nd to act after the blinds goes all in for about 2000 in chips. Everyone folds and i looked down and i have AJ suited so i call. The blindes at the time were 75 150 so it looked like a good time to steal. He turns over A10 OS and wins with a straight to the 10. I have been thinking about this call, and i felt that i problely should have folded. My read on this player was,
He was fairly good player and but did call marginal hands at times. This perticular hand he looked uneasy about the push and i felt he was trying to steal.
What do you think i should have done?

Why do you think you should have folded?
Because: 1) calling with AJs was likely dominated by a push from this guy or 2) because you lost?

If it was #1 - then yes you should have folded.

But you said you called based on a read that he looked uneasy and was wanting to steal. If that was the case then you need to decide what he likely would steal with. If you think the chances that he has an A with a lower kicker are good and the chances that he has either AQ or AK (or any pocket pair better than JJ) are bad (more like very bad) then it still depends on how much you are willing to gamble. In general you are going to be about a 60/40 favorite with this hand against any two live cards that your opp would most likely be pushing with (if he truly is pushing with any two than it is more like 70/30).

With your read it looks like it is fair to give yourself somewhere around a 60/40 chance to win. So is it worth a 60/40 chance to increase your stack by a good percentage and knock another opponent out with the risk that your stack will be cut by 1/3 but still leave you with plenty of chips to play? I say yes.

Good read, good call, bad results = good poker.

So you guys think it was a good call even though i was riskin 1/3 of my stack?
I had a good read but don't you think that i should have just camped till there were about 20ish people left? I don't know i was sitting pretty good, i was the chip lead at the table overall i was about 10th ish in chips.
The only reason i thought it might be better to fold would be to let the small stacks elimate themselfs and just crusie untill i made the last 2 tables. The way i figure, having about at least 9000 in chips at the final table would be good. There was 60 players for a total of 90k in chips in play.

I agree. Good call if you are basing it off of a read. Even without a good read it's not bad. Just got sucked out when you had the best hand.
