Default Would you pay this off

Earlier @ Full Tilt, I was dealt A/A UTG. Blinds were 30/60 so I made a 3xBB raise and get cold called by the person in 2nd position. Every1 else folded. The flop came 2/2/3. Very none threatening flop for aces so I lead out with a 1/2 pot bet and get called again. Now I'm thinking that he had a pair in his hand but I could say a big pair because he didn't re-raise me pre-flop or post-flop. They turn card came a 7 which is no help to me and doesn't scare me so again I lead with a little more. This time 2/3 and get cold called. The river card came a 9. The board now reads 2/2/3/7/9. No straight draws. No flushes. I check and he bets 1/2 pot. Do you hold em or fold em?

    Reads/stack sizes help.

    Raise more on the flop.

I don't check the river after leading the whole way. Unless he's pretty loose, chances are he doesn't have a 2 and you're good - that should be your half pot bet on the river.

Bet the river and call if he reraises. If the table is playing tight you might want to limp UTG and reraise any raisers. Although this is dangerous because other players may not raise behind you. I might have raised a little more on the flop and 4 to 5 x it pre-flop.

    Always call.

Aaaah CALL ALL DAY. You checked the river to induce a bet. You got what you asked for.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Well, the 3xBB raise did what I wanted it to do which was only get one caller and I'm thinking here that I'm stringing him along and yes, it was highly unlikely he called with a A/2 or 2/2 but in the end, he turned up pocket 3's and I lead into him the whole way.

Don't be results oriented. You played it fine. Only thing that beats you is a boat and he had it. You didn't go broke and most players would have.

anyone else think the dumbass with 33 should have folded preflop?

He was probably getting about the right price, but he had to worry about a reraise behind. His biggest mistake was not raising harder (on any street) because he never gave lock a chace to make a mistake. Why half pot the river when opp is folding big cards unimproved and calling a bigger bet w/pp >99? At least pot the river, same hands call and same hands fold but now you make more$.

I pat myself on the back for not getting stacked and move onto the next hand.
