Default POT LIMIT HOLDEM -- Am I missing something here?

    Good day all,

Signed up to play a SNG and ended up at a PL table by mistake.

WOW... I played them all weekend !! ITM at over half of them.

It' like NL used to be, guys busting out in level 1 & 2. I think every one I played at least 3 busted out before level 3.

Here's the question. Are most of these guys limit players "trying NL" and thinking its "Safe" cause it's PL? There is so much MIN betting. I was drawing to str8s and flushes like crazy.

OR.... is this some kind of PL tactic? I mean $30 flop and turn bets into 200+ pots was the norm. Letting everybody draw out and then betting the pot on the river only to show TPTK or 2 pair?

PLUS... I have never in a long while had so many guys trying to bluff with "O", and I mean nothing.

PLUS ... it was easy to spot the NL players betting 1/2 and pot sized bets.

It was so easy to get ITM, less than half the players were any good.

So, am I on the money with my take on PL or is the MIN betting a tatic?

    Thanks.
Why is it a penny for your thoughts but
you have to put your 2 cents in??

    Somebody's making a penny!!

The PL format tends to not to tighten up as much over time because when you limp you're less vulnerable to someone blowing you off your hand.

I just played 1 (hey for me that's like 3 days work) last night.
Players were super loose/passive... but that tended to suck when the blinds got high - because calling all-ins with nothing is +EV if the blinds are high enough.

Min bets are more useful in PL, becuase it allows you to re-raise pot sized, effectivly overbetting the pot. Of course, you could check also.

Also, so min bets are weak in PL... BUT THEY CALL ANYWAY. So you can't raise the pot into weak bets unless you can take the hit when they call with nothing better than your nothing.
