please confirm that this one is just dumb... but with the preflop raiser i was sure he'd cont bet and with 2 aces on the board i wasn't sure if he'd hit the flop... if i check, he bet, i would have had to fold with two behind me. u guys think just check/fold?

Even though early on I usually follow the set-it-or-forget-it philosophy with mid to low pocket pairs, I don't mind trying to bluff a piared flop like this. I don't like it in the second case though because there are too many people still in the hand.

I only try these with reads that the person isn't a laggy call/bluff-into-weakness kind of player. Then you know a call/raise means check/fold for you.

i just check fold the second hand. too many people in the pot, and even fish can make the read 'he wouldnt lead out with an ace'

Hand #2 : I think it was badly played - 4 people to the flop and you are out of position - I would check/fold it
