    Default Baby Aces in the BB

    I've had this happen a few times lately so I wondered what other's are during with this hand. A/9< in the BB and ace hits the board. To play it agressively, you may get broke b/c you're kicker could be dominated. I've seen numerous times where people limp with A/10 or A/J, but you don't want to throw it away. It could be the best hand. So... what does the masses at FT do?

    Assuming here that no one has raised or, at least, there's nothing more than a small raise and you hold, say, A6 in the BB.

    If it's just the SB, me and one limper, and the pot is worth taking down, I probably bet out. By bet out, I mean 2/3-pot-sized bet.

    If I'm in a hand with several people, or it's a fairly safe flop (say, A 7 2 rainbow) or if I'm in a hand with a limper who is a known aggressive player who will bet out when checked to most of the time, I may check-call.

    Let's say this flop, A 7 2, comes and you're in a hand with someone with 44, KJ who limped and the SB with 75. If you check around, chances are pretty good that one of these players is going to bet the turn, even though they are behind.

    I think it depends on the buy-in.. at $5 game.. I love to limp A9, or AT from the blinds, in an unraised pot at lower levels.. I actually prefer to get a flop like AQ3. I'm banking on players raising AT and better at this game. I feel confident betting the flop here, despite the weak kicker. It's a bit of a gamble (especially compared to my usual play, but I've done this exact thing on purpose with decent success.

    Of course I'm still a tight nancy early on, so as my kicker decreases I might still limp, in an unraised pot, but I'm not going to start printing money if an Ace hits here, since Ax is a very common limping hand for fish out of position. Basically as my x decreases, I'm going to be less and less interested in c-betting the flop early in the game with 4-5 in the pot.
    So you click their picture and then you get their money?

    As described, I probably throw out a small enough bet (2-3xbb) that someone without an ace will fold and someone with an ace will call/raise. Checking is just asking for a position player to steal it - although I find no fault with checking then calling small bet by position player instead of betting out. If position player bets out and you are only caller, and he checks turn, I bet out there. standard play.

    This also depends on the rest of the board. If there are flush and straight draws on the board, I probably check and watch the action since I don't want to get froggy with a shitty kicker by betting enough to get the draws to fold and have a better ace hang around. And stack sizes, blind sizes, etc all have to be taken into consideration. I'm assuming here that the blinds are low and stacks are fairly big - ie - early in the tournament.

    It's a little riskier, but I've had the best luck in this spot with a check raise. You can often make someone lay down a better (though still weakish) ace, and if you get called, you at least know you are up against a strong hand on the turn. A lot of weak tight players will give you credit for a set here.

    Well, first off - unless it's a short table I will fold to a min raise 90% of the time from the BB. Maybe call if raiser is loose and I'm s00ted.

    But I assume you mean only limpers.

    If you have M >= 20, probe bet 1/2 pot or so.
    If you have M <= 5 push
    If you have M between 5 - 20 check. If bet is weak you can c/r if strong you can fold if checks around, bet a blank turn.
