i dont understand... Why are you making this move with the blinds so low. If he calls you are at best a 50/50 and you could be against a higher pair. Were you just trying to blow off steam?
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

bigspenda73: But how much did you win?

You clearly don't know Ripptyde like we do

I am disappointed that you actually had a pocket pair. I was expecting to see your usual 23o or 49 or something like that.

    ripptyde -
i'm waiting to see some hands where you're not just getting lucky. pls share some of those with us... I know you're good - I just want to see some skill hands rather than push/luck hands. These don't teach me anything except not to play you cuz you're a very lucky player. (some players are luckier than others - and you're one of them.)

I don't like the push unless you thought you could get him to fold. I think I either call for the set or fold here, although given you said he had been raising every hand, I suppose a push can be a decent option, especially for a lucky player....

I don't think it's a necessarily bad push at all...he's going to need more chips soon, and decided to take a chance.

Sometimes "skill" is going with your gut and getting lucky. The donkish replies by this opponent clearly indicate who the better player is anyway.

yeah - i'm not criticizing the push - just would like to see some more of his histories showing his prowess rather than good fortune.

Must be tightening up in his old age.

It's likely Rippy is getting the best of it here when he pushes (knowing more about the opener is important.) The stack sizes and betting amounts are VERY favorable towards making this play.

I hope you sent him $0.02 after this.

given his read that he was ahead, and his 2-1 stack size, it's a reasonable push. but his read was off and he got lucky. i want to see some where his read was spot-on, and an explanation of how he used his read to win the hand - sensing weakness, prior action shows opp will fold to a push on the turn, etc.

i can learn a lot from ripptyde - just askin for that type of info.

What's the difference between a "correct" read and just another form of luck?

I think lots of players are horribly results-oriented when looking at bluff-like situations and attribute running into hands and getting weird calls as failure.

not really sure what you're asking... but i don't consider getting a solid read on a player and using that to win a hand or take them out is luck at all. it's probably the most skilled part of the game. and i know ripptyde is good at that... as are you from what i've seen......

not being results-oriented at all - just want some histories/discussions with ripptyde under less "lucky" circumstances....

This was a good play if you have GREAT fold equity on unpaired high cards. I would expect nothing less from Rippy. Find an edge and push it. The opponent was more likely to muck A7o than turn over JJ. I wouldn't make this play, but I'm not Rippy. It wasn't a bad play IMO, it was just only marginally correct. The edge isn't big enough for my taste. I tend to believe there are way to many larger edges to be had in other spots to make this play in here.

I have one question. Would you post this hand if his JJ would hold up, like it should?

Nope. Take Rippies suck out posts for what they're worth. Do you really want to lose this kind of entertainment? He gets off on douching people. It's fun. I enjoy watching it. I think I just spilled popcorn in my crotch.
