Basically I call a 4x bb raise preflop in hopes of flopping some clubs. Flop came A95 rainbow. It's checked to me, I make a pot size bet and get minraised by Person 1. Person cold calls. I push, was that a huge mistake?

What are your thoughts on this situation. One could easily say fold A5s preflop and you wouldn't be in this situation. I like calling pf raises (nothing more than 4xbb and only in multiway pots) with Axs in position. Would you consider that a leak?

Axs is only worth playing if theyre is alot of dead money in the pot imo. I dont want to play Axs HU, ever, but if 4 limp and i have reasonable position then i join in. In the same scenario without limpers i probably fold it or limp but most often fold.
My thoughts are that Axs is so dominated most often that u need dead pot money to allow for it to be profitable to chase/draw to the flush. I dont want to call a $1 pot bet at 50nl drawing to a flush. But im happy to call when i have multiple callers/hands in the pot.

wisdom. a push after minraise/cold call w/ two-pair is almost never a good play, unless the entire table is comprised of garbage players.

what hand does it make sense to flat call a min-raise with? there are no draws on the flop, so chasing is completely out of the question. if you're holding tp or even pocket underpair on the flop, you're going to re-raise a min-raise to find out where you're standing & adjust play on the turn/river accordingly.

the only possible reason why somebody would flat call (once again, allowing that the player in question is not a raging idiot calling w/ nines in a pot raised preflop) is milkage. they want you in the hand for additional profit. you should've known you were behind in the hand.

Indeed. The move would have been absolutely correct without the cold caller (calling 4bb pre with Axs might be debatable imo but I do it sometimes myself), because you might get him all in and you don't want to give him the chance to pair the nine or the king - if the original raiser has AA or 99, well, tough luck. But the presence of the cold caller on this extremely dry flop... it's death incarnate. This is a mistake I've made numerous times that I'm trying to weed out.

Ace small suited is a hand which many players play too much and misplay. They have dreams of hitting a nut flush - but if this happens, how much action do they think they are going to get? Any decent player will bet enough to deter such draws (unless the flush comes on the flop but then everyone will tighten up or dump).

Being suited is, in my view, not the great advantage it is perceived to be, just a slight bonus. Ace small kicker, although it can turn into the wheel straight, is a hand not worth playing. If an A flops there is every chance that it is dominated by a higher A.

Folding preflop avoids some difficult decisions - why put yourself under pressure unnecessarily?
