Default One more question, flush draw on flop AI call...

Alright so we're 5 handed in a ten dollar sit-n-go. (there's one micro stack so we're practically on the bubble.) Blinds 150/300, I'm in second chip position with about 4500, villain has about 5000, the chip leader.

I pick up the queen jack of diamonds in the cutoff seat, and raise the blinds (we're at the 150-300 level) to 900. Chip Leader Villain from the small blind reraises the minimum to 1500...buttons fold and i call...good play? Minimum reraises preflop often raise alarm bells, but I have a good drawing hand. Do I really want to play this hand against the only guy that can bust me though? Also, small blind has played real solid so far.

Anyway I call and the flop comes 5 diamonds, offsuit deuce, and 10 of diamonds. Small Blind moves in as I expected him to do, and I was sad and called.

Anybody play this differently on any street?

Also what do you put the villain on? 20 dollars goes to the person who can guess what he had exactly.

This same exact situation happened to me, except villain was the one with the flush draw. He bet preflop, I believe KJ, I had AQ and reraised. Flop comes two spades, I push to try and in, he quick-calls and hits it on the turn. I dunno what percentage it is, but there are a lot of outs.. I'd call, can't win chips without putting yours in the pot.

It's unlikely he has AA, KK or QQ. I would not push those hands on that flop, but I'm not a donk and he may be.

It sounds like a AK of diamonds that figures he can draw to the win, or take the pot right there (since he's scared of your possible pocket pair or trips).

Your best case scenario is 2 live cards and a flush draw. In that case you are ahead. If he doesn have QQ or better, you have 10 outs (1 for the jacks due to runner runner) and are behind.

I'm guessing he had Ad 2d.

I don't think it's wise to committ a third of your stack to a drawing hand preflop. Chasing draws isn't really profitable at this stage of a tourney, in my opinion. I chase when they're cheap, and this isn't cheap.

    I would fold this preflop.

With an agressive bigstack to act after you I would limp/fold preflop. There is no reason to get dragged into a big pot with medioare hand.
The flop is a sticky one, 2 overs and a draw, but I would fold it when he pushed.
I would guess he has total crap

Never discount somebody until they have 0 chips. Any veteran player can tell you about a comeeback he had from exterme short stack

Again thanks for all the responses, I find them very helpful.

To Aplomado, I certainly didn't want to commit a third of my stack pre flop with queen jack suited. I was hoping to take down the blinds as everyone at the table was playing pretty loose. I like hands like queen-jack suited to steal blinds with because if you get called you can hit a lot of flops.

The problem came when he reraised me preflop, but the reraise was so small I felt like I had to call just 500 more. Do you still think I shoulda dumped it here, does everyone?

It's a tough decision to call the re-raise or not. Pot odds say yes, but... I can find a fold here. Have you been stealing alot? Has he been restealing with min-re-raises? Do you think his min-re-raise is strong or weak?

He bets, what, 3500 into a 3300 pot? That's not even a real overbet. You are only getting 2:1 and your Q/J may not be live. I think I can find a fold here, although if you call pre-flop, this is a pretty close to great flop for you.

I'd limp/fold PF. Based on PF min raise and flop AI, I'd guess he had a PP > 55, and I would think probably JJ-AA or AK. There's not too many hands that should min raise PF out of position against the other big stack.

The AI could be protection against a flush draw or just the overbet w/overpair trying to drag along TP. I could even see TT making that bet depending on the opp. Could be a total bluff w/AK(no diamond).

I would want to call the AI, but I think lay it down you still have 3000 chips. I I don't mind the minraise PF call(you're gettin 4.5-1).

Villain has 88. Where's my money?
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

I can't fault the steal from the CO - it's time to steal w blinds at 150/300, and as for the min-raise, 600 more into a pot of 2700 - 4.5 to 1 - you pretty much have to call that even if he has a big pair. I'd probably call the push with 2 overs and the flush draw - I'd want to fold but I don't think my mouse finger would listen.... I'd play it the same.

Opp has - where's my moola?
