I had not seen any of this players cards yet, I think he had top pair when he raised me on the flop earlier, I had him beat with a set of Js so I didn't see his hand in the showdown. The only other hand I had shown down so far was a flopped straight in the BB, I busted a guy who was trying to slowplay Aces, I check raised that guy on the flop and put him AI on the turn.

Somehow this post went unnoticed, this was a difficult hand for me and I would really like to know if other ppl would've played it differently and why. If you think I'm a dumbass for folding, tell me, I can handle it.

With no read i'm rarely laying down an overpair to the board. But then most of my plays are made based on reads, so...

I think you are probably beat, but your bet was so big that a call is justifiable. This is an example of why I like to limp 1010 and play for set value early.

What happened on the hand before this one? It looks like he won 750 from you and how that played out may be a large part of his decision process.

I might lay this down. Tough one, but you can recover later.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

I had only been involved in 2 hands so far, the first one I won with a set of jacks, the other one is where I flopped a straight. My table image was solid which is one reason that i thought he had me beat.

The thing that stopped me from pushing on the flop was the small pot size. On the flop there was only 170 in the pot, 1190 seemed like too much to lose fighting over such a small pot without hitting the flop really hard. That's 7 times the size of the pot on the flop that I'd be risking with a pair of tens!!

The last thought that I had before folding (I actually just let the timer run out without calling, this was such a tough decision) was, "I can fold right now and still be the chip leader with 2155". When you start with 1000, there's a big difference between 2155 and1455. 2155 puts me in a position to win. I might run this through an ICM later.

When we got down to 3 players, I had roughly 3600 Elreydepez had 3900 leaving the other guy at 2500. Elreydepez had been mini-raising alot so pushed back out of the BB with A8 and lost to his QT. I'm not too results oriented and I think I still gave myself a good chance to win even though I passed on this hand.

So how long should I wait 'til I tell you guys what he showed me?

If I say what he had it'll be hard to make an unbiased analysis, maybe 1 more day???

    This is a tough hand....
    I put him on
    A) Overcardss, flush draw, A8 , mabye 99
    or
    B) straight, set

I see so many guys pump their draws like this I am inclided to call -especially since the pot odds are like 3:2, and you out stack the guy.

If you lose, you still have 1000 chips

I have to agree with others here. I think you have to call. I would be putting him on flush draw or over cards. If he has a bigger pair so be it. Or if he is protecting a set, that's the way it goes.

Don't raise half your stack and fold. You have to be ahead 25% of the time to make calling the push correct. Decide BEFORE you waste your chips if your likely ahead.

    On the hand?

What cold calls preflop and jams the flop there? He has JJ-AA or your winning.

I guess this hand's got all the analysis it's going to get, time to let the cat out of the bag.

I wanted him to show if he was bluffing so I said, "you got a lucky flop!!".

He shows me AK, i said i had the same hand, good play. Of course inside I was saying, "You mother fucker!!!", but I didn't let it tilt me and played my normal game.

I know I'm not a master, but it seems that if this guy called your preflop 3x BB bet, he had to have a strong hand. Therefore, any 67 would likely be eliminated, even in the BB. If he had a low pair here, set of 4 or 5... a 3x BB bet is hardly limping in w/these limping hands. However I might be inclined to see you to the flop with 88. If he had a greater pair, JJ to AA, wouldn't he usually try to RR you just to make sure you weren't blind stealing him? Seems to me the only, and unlikely hand, would be 88 would worry me. But it seems like most people try to slow play a set. Betting immidiately on that type of flop would make me think it was a mere bluff or on some sort of draw. The All in RR seems too aggressive to make any sense even if he made the unlikely set.
