Playing AK early in early position.

Default Playing AK early in early position.

Is this just bad on too many levels? Should I fold it to the raise in early position? Is the turn call bad? It just seemed like since I was already here and there are potentially a lot of outs I'd gamble. I can come back right?

I don't know that I would push preflop with AK. That hardly seems necessary here.

I would definitely check/fold following the flop. At least one of these guys probably has a made hand and you're probably not going to push them off it with that board.

    i call pre flop
    and fold the turn

the pre flop push is interesting. i don't like it, but i can sense that you can get AJ and AQ to call you more then they have KK/AA, and the pairs give you 45-55... plus u might get fold equity vs. 10.10? i don't like it 'cos I have the confidence to play AK post flop against a small raise with position to the PFR. I also think I can win tourneys without taking this kind of risk. I'd do it if the particular situation warranted (short stack, read, etc.) but not as a default strategy.

calling pre flop is fine, once you do you want to play the hand passively like you did. A re raise pre flop thins the field and would have changed everything after.
    Either is OK IMHO.

I think the turn call is OK, I'm too lazy to do the math but if you have 15 outs (reasonable on that board) you have right price. It's a thin call and I would guess a lot of folks fold in marginally correct call spots just to preserve stack in these shorter stacked SNGs.

You have odds to call the turn but since it's 25% of you stack that doesn't sound like a good idea.

I think if you are risking that much of your stack then your goal is to take someones else's stack. If an A, K or spade comes are people going to give you their chips?

I'm one of those people. Because it's so many of your chips, I like a fold OR a push on the turn. He didn't even have the stones to continuation bet. Take it down and move on. Calling just fattens the pot and gives him a chance to force you out on the river when your AK high may be the best hand (and you have a lot of outs to the best hand). I'd say there's at least a 20% chance his turn bet is just an attempt to pick up the pot. 20% that you have the best hand + 25% that you make the best hand = 45% that you win a pretty big pot with that push. I like that play.

Wow. This can not be the best way to play this hand considering how littler there is in the pot and how vulnerable your hand usually turns out to be in these situations.

A better move would have been to push over his bet on the turn.

I like folding the turn over calling.

yeah I should have added Push > call. I think call is defendable, just not the best play.

    fold the turn.
    You have A high.
The race doesn't always go to the fastest or the strongest but it's a pretty good bet.

I would raise preflop to about 120, to try to define my hand vs the field. If someone pushes over me I fold.

I would fold the turn here, 175 is too much to risk on 15 outs, 6 of which may be tainted
