i dont think you needed to go allin there.
a raise would have been fine.

I like the play. I really don't want to get in a situation where I make it 2000 and miss the flop. If you're going to cbet then you're all in anyway and if you check and he bets then you're basically guessing if he has a pair. If he limped a big pair then oh well, that's just unlucky.

You could check but I really don't like that at all. Late in a tournament, if you really want to make a run at the final table you need capitalize when you get AK. Pushing here buys you all 5 cards and also eliminates your opponents positional advantage on you.

I think that's perfect, this is just the kind of place you want to be willing to take a coinflip or stealing 2 blinds per orbit when everyone tightens up for the bubble.

I can't really come up with another play to make. the only reason I can think of to make it 2k and push any flop is you may fold a pair on a QJx flop or something. But I'd rather get it in now.

Good push. I think that you need to be thinking about the FT and not just squeaking into the money. Get it all in with possibly the best hand.

Thanks for the input guys. I also felt that making a standard raise would basically leave me pot committed anyway so this was the correct play.

I in fact did make the final table and bust out fifth after brutal hand involving the opp beating my AQ on a Q23 board with pocket 3s after I reraised him PF (I did this because he minraised UTG for like the 4th time at the FT). Was looking for information, thought I was a strong favorite, oh well.

I have been reading this site for over six months now and this has been my first post. It's a great site and has been helping me a lot. Also, I just finished Harrington on Hold'em volume one, which is a must read for any tournament player. Can't wait to get my hands on volume 2.
