if its a c-bet, why not raise it instead of call it? if that was his probe bet, then he really has no reason not to make another bet given how you just called him.

why must we reraise here when we can take it away from them on the turn. If we reraise we build a bigger pot before the next card comes and that makes it even worse on the turn if he does have something good.

if it was a probe bet he doesnt have a reason to lead out again on the turn. Yes i agree. Which is why i folded the turn.

if you simply call here, and he checks to you, and you bet out like you are supposed to, and he comes over the top, then what do you do? there are so many people that will call the c-bet then fold to the turn bet, or even better will bluff the turn when checked to that this play is very transparent and unlikely to be effective often enough to be profitable.
it seems like you are giving him every opportunity/ample reason to try to take this pot off of you.

i dont kno who u play against, but i dont find that many people who have the nuts to fire a second barrel if they have 2 overs.

don't let yourself second guess yourself.

    1. don't let him hit the turn
    2. don't let him fire the second bullet.
    3. don't let him come over the top of you on the turn.

what do you gain by calling, having it checked to you on the turn, and taking it down then, vis-a-vis taking it down now?

raising the bet gives you: a) better indication if your read is wrong, b) less opportunity to make mistakes yourself, c) less suckouts

so u guys believe that the best way to pick off apparent c bets is to raise the flop as opposed to taking it to a turn.

I raise these more than call but more than minraise. Usualy 1.5 raise or more if my stack permits. That way if I get a reraise it's usually all in and they mean business. Otherwisie he folds and I don't need to make a decision next time. Remember you give yourself a way to win the hand right there if it's a normal players cbet. Obviously you need to be ok with your chips stack to make the play.

In a cash game, trying to get cute on the turn may be more viable.

Must agree with the above; if you're picking off a cbet you should do it on the flop. Keep in mind that his "weenie cbet" of 1/2 the pot is almost 10% of your stack and if he half-pots the turn you're looking at pretty much committing your stack on a bluff.

    himself fucker.
It's a leak if you try this a lot and give up so easily. You need to try it less and apply more pressure when you do it.
