Default My Casino Bonus Journal - A Guide to Casino Bonuses

    {Comments? Questions? Post here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...al-t24233.html }

I thought I'd give Casino Bonuses a try, many have discussed it here at FTR, and many have had success at it, but I've never tried it myself, so this will be my experience, and hopefully there's something worthwhile that comes out of it. There are so many online casinos with big, fat initial deposit bonuses, it seems like it would be pretty easy to bring home some money with those. I already know how to play Blackjack, so I think there will be very little risk. For those of you who don't know basic strategy, I basically just follow this chart when playing Blackjack:
    http://blackjack.flopturnriver.com/B...Chart-Even.php

I started with StarLuck Casino. From everything I had read, this casino has the best bonus - straight-forward, and pretty easy to earn and then withdraw. I deposited $100 into StarLuck, and received a $100 bonus. Now, I had $200 in my player account to wager.

The thing is you can't withdraw any of these dollars. Not even your original $100. At least not yet. Once you receive that bonus, your initial deposit and the bonus money are tied into a wagering requirement. You must wager a certain amount before you can touch any of the $200, including your $100 deposit. At StarLuck, the wagering requirement is quite low when compared to other online casinos. StarLuck also allows you to play Blackjack to work off that wagering requirement, other online casinos do not count Blackjack towards that requirement.

At StarLuck Casino, the wagering requirement is 8 times. So, in my case, I had to wager $1,600 before I could withdraw anything. This sounded like a lot, but it wasn't. I played the multi-player Blackjack table - this allowed me to play 3 hands at a time. I only played $2 on each spot, so I was wagering $6 each round. At this rate, it only took me about 1.5 hours to clear the wagering requirement.

So, at this point, I believe these are the two most important factors when looking at an online casino bonus - the wagering requirement, and the games that are not allowed to count towards that requirement. The best combination is a low wagering requirement (and the ability to actually withdraw those bonus dollars rather than just wager with them!) and the allowance of Blackjack to count towards that wagering requirement! Starluck offers all of these, making it one of the best online casinos to go after that bonus.

At StarLuck, there isn't any place that tells you how much you've wagered so far. However, StarLuck does have customer service available via an online chat, and you can ask them. I asked them twice during my session so I could get an idea of where I was at. Again, it only took me about 1.5 hours to meet the requirement.

My results - started with $100, and ended with $225. I actually made $25 in that hour and a half, plus the $100 bonus, so I profited $125 which I'm quite pleased about. StarLuck requires a 24 hour wait period from the time you meet the wagering requirement to when you can actually make the withdrawal, so I'll attempt my withdrawal tomorrow afternoon.

My next stop will be the PlanetLuck Casino - also owned and operated by PartyGaming and offering the exact same rules and regulations.

Ok, check it out, I withdrew my money 24 hours after I met the wagering requirements - I had no problems and received my money immediately.

Here's the email I received when I requested my cashout of all my money ($225):

    Dear tanaka507,

This internal review and approval process is for security purposes and will take less time if you are already an ezEcash Document Verified User (if not, see below to become one).

Please keep this cash out receipt for your records.

I received the funds into my Neteller account the same day! Now, I'm taking $100 into PlanetLuck to do the same thing.

PlanetLuck is the same as StarLuck, in both rules, regulations, and ownership, so I used the same strat - deposit $100, get $100 in bonus, and plan on betting $1,600 to meet the wagering requirement. PlanetLuck, like StarLuck, is one of the best online casinos out there because of the great bonus and the Blackjack.

Unfortunately, I had a pretty bad string of cards. Blackjack is kinda like getting kicked in the nuts over and over. But, as long as I'm playing with the casino's money, it's all good and a lot of fun.

I cashed in $100, and cashed out $125. I lost most of the bonus trying to stay alive, but at least I profited $25. So, some success but not great. There's not much risk to joining since they give you extra money to play with. There's no reason not to play at StarLuck and PlanetLuck with that initial deposit bonus!

Again, I had no problems with the cashing out of PlanetLuck, it was handled quickly and effortlessly right back into my Neteller account.

Well, after some research, I found the Grand Online Casino, which offers a 200% initial deposit bonus, for up to $200. Unfortunately, this is a sticky bonus, meaning you can never withdraw the $200, only wager with it. Because of this, I think the strategy changes a bit from PlanetLuck and StarLuck, which does allow you to withdraw the bonus.

Since Grand Online allows you to withdraw your winnings, then you should maximize the bonus. And I think the best approach is to bet it all on one hand. At least you won't be wasting your time, either you'll make a lot of money, or you'll lose $100. Grand Online allows blackjack to count towards the wagering requirement. So, I think I'll head over to the Grand Online, deposit $100, and wager all $300 on a single hand of blackjack. If I win, I'll shrink my bet to $2 and meet the wagering requirement, which is 4x $300 = $1,200. If I lose, well, that will suck, but I think this is a solid play: if I win my hand, I win $300. If I lose my hand, I lose $100. Clearly, this is a good bet.

I signed up to Grand Online Casino. I deposited $100 via Neteller (which ended up being an awesome move), but didn't automatically receive the bonus dollars in my account. After reviewing the directions on the website, I learned you must contact support and request the bonus.

Here are the instructions from the website:

Contact our Customer Service Department toll-free at 1-888-257-7738 and ask for Promo Code A3808. Be sure to have your Real Play Username ready for fast processing. If you live outside North America, click here, or e-mail us at [email protected]
I emailed support, gave them the Promo Code A3808, and waited for their response. It took them about 1.5 hours to get back to me, so it may be faster to call them up via the toll-free number.

When Grand Online support did email me back, I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did they award me the $200 sticky bonus (non-withdrawable), but they also threw in a $75 non-sticky bonus because I deposited via Neteller!!! So, I had $375 to wager with, after only depositing $100! The $75 non-sticky bonus (allowed to withdraw) really made me wonder about how I should approach this room. I could play conservatively, meet the wagering requirement, and withdraw whatever's left of the $100 + $75...or I could wager all $375 and just hope...

Here's the email from Grand Online Casino:

    Dear Tyson,

Thank you for contacting Customer Care. Because you used NETeller to make your first deposit, you are entitled to a bonus of 200% - plus an additional $75!!

We have added a bonus of $275 to your account, which you will be able to start using immediately. There are a couple of conditions to the use of this bonus which you need to be aware of before you can start to play:

    - There are four games that you cannot play with the bonus amount, nor with the initial deposit. Those games are Baccarat, Craps, Roulette, and Sicbo. Any winnings acquired through the use of these games will be declared invalid and will be deducted from your account.

    - Before you can cash out any winnings, there is a 4x wagering requirement on the total amount of the bonus and the deposit. Simply put, your accumulated bets must equal $1500 (your deposit ($100) + the bonus ($275) x 4) before you can cash out.

    - The 200% bonus is for wagering purposes only, and cannot be withdrawn for an actual cash value at any time. This bonus will be taken from your account at the time of your first withdrawal (or earlier if you request it). The additional $75 will not be deducted, and is yours to keep.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us by replying to this email, or over the phone through our toll free phone number.

    Many thanks,
    Glenn

Well, not sure which way I was going to play this casino, I started off playing Blackjack Surrender at $5 /hand and started working off the wagering requirement. As I got closer to meeting the wagering requirement, I noticed that I was up another $50. Now, I had to decide whether to gamble it all, or actually walk away with what I've won, plus the $75 bonus and skip out on utilizing the $200 sticky bonus to wager with...

I ended up walking. I cashed out $425, less the $200 sticky, so ended up with $225. I figured that there would be plenty of other casinos to gamble that sticky bonus, and I just bankrolled an extra one by taking what I had.

(Update!) - Now, if you used Neteller to make your deposit, like I did, to withdraw the money, you must send in a photo copy of your driver's license, and two copies of utility bills showing your name and address. If you deposited via credit/debit card, you must also send in a photo copy of the card - these measures are meant to discourage fraudulent accounts. I've been lazy with this last formality, so I just left my funds sitting at Grand Online for a while, but I finally got around to faxing this stuff in and my withdrawal was approved. Keep these documents handy, you'll need to perform the same procedure at the next one -

I'm off to Golden Palace next.

I joined Golden Palace next. I deposited $100 into my account via Neteller. Like Grand Online Casino, you have to contact customer service and provide the Promo Code to receive the whopping 300% initial deposit bonus ($300!!!).

Below is the information from the website:

Contact our Customer Service Department toll-free at 1-888-217-5648 and ask for Promo Code A3973. Be sure to have your Real Play Username ready for fast processing. If you live outside North America, click here, or e-mail us at [email protected]
About an hour later, I was credited with the $300 STICKY bonus, and sent this email below:

    Dear Player,

As per your request, your account has been credited with promotion A3973 (300% bonus). Before playing with the bonus money please take the time to carefully review the disclaimer below. It is important that you both fully understand and comply with the terms of and conditions of this particular promotion.

Should you require any further clarification or assistance please do not hesitate to contact us via the medium of your choice at your discretion

I thank you for your patronage and for choosing Golden Palace.
Now, basically the disclaimer is this - you have to wager 4x the total amount, so we're looking at $1,600. At $5/hand, this took me about 2 hours or less. The other item is that you must make a withdrawal for over $300 - because $300 will be subtracted from the withdrawal - that's the sticky bonus that you are not allowed to withdraw.

With $400 to wager with, I proceeded to the Blackjack Surrender game. I kind of debated how I should wager this, I was either going to bet it all or make a $200 bet, so I could split or double-down if need be on that first hand. Well, I decided to bet $200. I won my first hand, getting dealt a 20.

The interesting thing now is that I have $600 to wager with, but $300 of that is actually mine and I can withdraw it once I reach the wagering requirement!

Well, again not really knowing what I should do, but planning on withdrawing something, I took it down to $5/hand bets, and started working off that wagering requirement. Since I had already bet $200, I had $1,400 left to go.

I finished it quickly and ended up with $565 total. So, my take would be $265, which would mean a proft of $165... is this enough? Should I place 1 more bet for $500 and really utilize that starting bonus they gave me?

Well, I didn't really know. Clearly, betting $265 of my real money, to make $500 is a great bet. Winning the hand is close to 1:1, though this payout would be 2:1. This is a good bet. However, I'm still trying to build up my bankroll so I can make these bets several times across a plethora of online casinos without the risk of busting my bankroll... tough decision. Up to this point, I haven't faced any real risk of losing any of my real money.

Betting everything would risk $265 of MY REAL MONEY. There are still casino options out there that I can take advantage of without risking that much of my real money. I decided to pass and cash out. Onward and upward.

Withdrawing from Golden Palace Casino is the same as Grand Online Casino, you must fax in or email copies of your driver's license and two utility bills (and a credit card if you used that to deposit). Then it goes to security, here's the email I received from Golden Palace Casino after I faxed over my info:

    Dear TYSON TANAKA,

Your documents were received and your account approved for payout. Please note that you will receive an email from our Accounting Department once they have processed your payout.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Department. We are available 24 Hours a day, 7 days a week, at: http://www.goldenpalace.com/support.htm

    Thank you,

Two days later the money was back in my Neteller account:

    Dear Tyson Tanaka,

Thank you for playing at GoldenPalace.com!

We have processed your Withdrawal request, code CD0014031251 for a total of $265.00.

Please note the following withdrawal details:

Carnival Casino was my next stop, they offer a 100% initial deposit sticky bonus if you deposit up to $299, then it jumps to 200% if you deposit $300, but the terms and conditions change, and Blackjack falls off the games available to meet the wagering requirement. Be sure to check out the Carnival Casino website for details if you go this route.

*Update - January 5, 2006 - BLACKJACK is now excluded from counting towards the wagering requirement... see update at bottom of post!

I'm still building up the bankroll, so I deposited $100 into Carnival Casino via Neteller. Carnival immediately awards you the proper bonus, so you don't have to contact customer service like Grand Online and Golden Palace casinos.

So, right off the bat my account was at $200, and I was ready to get lucky playing blackjack. The fine print at Carnival Casino is as follows - you have to wager 8x the deposit + bonus, so in my case, $1,600, to meet the wagering requirement before you can withdraw. The rules are different if you're betting in British pounds, check it out:

Please note that in the interest of fair gaming: for $ and € you have to wager at least (8) eight times your bonus and deposit before making any cash outs, while for £ you have to wager at least (12) twelve times your bonus and deposit before making any cash outs. If you withdraw before having reached the minimum wagering requirements, your bonus and winnings will be void.
The games excluded from the wagering requirements are as follows:

Using the player's deposit and bonus funds to wager on Craps (all sorts Craps), Roulette (all sorts of Roulette), Baccarat (all sorts of Baccarat), SicBo (all sorts of SicBo), Jacks of Better 4, and Aces and Faces 4 does not fulfill the player's obligations with regard to the minimum wagering requirements for $ and €.
If you're betting in British pounds, Blackjack is also excluded towards the wagering requirement! But, as a US Player, Blackjack is all good, so the rules are great for me.

I immediately put all $200 (my $100 and the $100 bonus) on the first hand of Blackjack. Again, the idea here is that you are not allowed to withdraw the sticky bonus, you can only wager with it. So, you definitely want to wager that bonus and double it up, because the winnings CAN be withdrawn once you reach that wagering requirement. And, so even though you're betting $200 to win $400 on this single hand, it's really like betting $100 (of your real money) to win $300 (real money that could be withdrawn). Clearly, a great bet to make.

So, how did it work out for me? $200 on my first hand, I'm dealt 16. Sucks. Dealer is showing a 3. I stay. Dealer flips over a 9. Then hits a 2. Then hits an ace. Then hits a... ten! I win!

I've been very lucky so far on my big bets, 2-0. I'm winning the big hands, allowing me to withdraw profits. Now that I'm at $400, I decide to just work off that wagering requirement and see how much I can take home. Since I already bet $200 on one hand, I only have $1,400 more to clear.

At Carnival Casino, you can play on several different types of Blackjack tables, I started on the single hand table where I won the big bet. Then I moved to the five-handed table, playing 5 spots simultaneously at $2/hand. So each round, I was risking $10. This made it easy for me to keep track of how much I was wagering.

But that 5 spot table was crushing me, so I moved to the 3-handed table, and played 2 spots for $5/hand. So, I'm still risking $10 round, but the action moved much faster, and I did much better on this table, making up the money I lost on the 5-handed table.

I ended with $415, of which, $315 is mine, and $100 is the sticky bonus that I cannot withdraw. I got lucky on that first hand, and I hope I can do it again.

Carnival Casino's withdrawal process is easy and painless. Unlike Grand Online and Golden Palace, you do not need to send in any faxes of identification or anything. The withdrawal process takes 4 business days from the time of withdrawal. Here's the email I received from Carnival Casino:

    Dear Tyson Tanaka,

Thank you for choosing to play at Carnival!

We have received your withdrawal request for the total amount of $315.00, together with your preferred payment method of money NETeller.

Your transaction request code is: 2843217NT.

Please be advised that all withdrawal requests are processed 4 business days following the request date, as per our Withdrawal Policy, unless stated otherwise according to your VIP level. Your withdrawal request will be displayed in the 'Pending Withdrawals' section under the casino's Cashier section until the day it is processed.
The withdrawal hit my Neteller account in the timeframe specified.

*Update - January 5, 2006 - Carnival Casino has changed their terms and conditions regarding their initial deposit bonus - BLACKJACK IS EXCLUDED FROM THE WAGERING REQUIREMENT. Below is the updated text from their website:

Using the player's deposit and bonus funds to wager on Craps (all sorts of Craps) , Roulette (all sorts of Roulette), Sic Bo (all sorts of Sic Bo), Blackjack (all sorts of Blackjack) and Baccarat (all sorts of Baccarat), Jacks or Better (all sorts of Jacks or Better), Aces and Faces (all sorts of Aces and Faces), and Deuces Wild (all sorts of Deuces Wild) does not fulfill the player's obligations with regard to the minimum wagering requirements for £ $ and €.

Ok, I'm signing up to Casino Tropez now. They offer a 100% initial deposit sticky bonus up to $100 for the first deposit. Like the previous casinos, there is a wagering requirement of 8x, so I must wager $1,600 before I can make a withdrawal, and I cannot withdraw the bonus dollars. Casino Tropez also offers a 50% second deposit sticky bonus for up to $200 - not sure if I'll be doing that...

The games that count towards the wagering requirement are more limiting here, check out the fine print:

Bets placed on all versions of Baccarat, Craps, all versions of Roulette, all versions of Sic Bo, all Video Poker games, Blackjack Switch and Blackjack Surrender will not be counted toward wagering requirements.
So, Blackjack Switch and Blackjack Surrender do not count, but regular Blackjack does, so that's what I'll be playing.

*UPDATED 5/3/2006 - Casino Tropez is no longer allowing Blackjack to be played to clear their bonus. Check out this thread for some details: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...c.php?p=305415

Like Carnival Casino, this is a sticky bonus, so my best play is to bet it all. This is my plan as soon as I sit down - one hand for everything...can I get lucky again?

When I signed up, customer service immediately initiated a chat with me asking if I'd like an additional $20 bonus. This bonus has a 10x wagering requirement associated with it. So, I accepted, I have $220 in my account, and I must wager $1,800 to make a withdrawal of everything ($1,600 + $200).

I'm ready to play that all important first hand... here I go...

A7 vs 4. Interesting...can't double down this so I actually stay. Dealer flips a Q underneath, and deals herself a...10!!! I win! Whew!! These hands are such a rush!! Ok, my account is up to $440. Time to get to work on meeting my wagering requirement. I'll update this thread as soon as I'm done.

I know, lucky again on that big hand, but good streaks can happen! Be back in a bit...

Ok, I'm back, I've wagered another $1,600, and I was able to maintain my balance, got it up to almost $600, but then got cold and it dropped back down. I switched from playing 2 hands at $5/hand to playing 3 hands at $3, $3, and $4, to minimize variance. It seemed to slow the bleeding, yet was still easy to keep track at $10 per round. Ended up with $455.50. I'll wait until tomorrow evening to process the withdrawal.

My next stop - Casino DelRio - same rules as Casino Tropez.

I'm signing up to Casino Del Rio now, I've double checked their site and they are identical to Casino Tropez - 100% initial deposit sticky bonus for up to $100, 8x is the wagering requirement, and Blackjack is allowed.

Here's the fine print from the Casino Del Rio website regarding the wagering requirement:

    5) In the interest of fair gaming in order to cash out any amount of money you must wager at least eight (8) times your play bonus plus deposit. If you withdraw before having reached the minimum wagering requirements, your bonus and winnings will be void.
And the games that are excluded from the wagering requirement:

    7. Bets placed on any versions of Baccarat, Craps, all versions of Roulette, all versions of Sic Bo, all Video Poker games, Blackjack Switch and Blackjack Surrender will not be counted toward wagering requirements.
Like the Casino Tropez, Blackjack Switch and Blackjack Surrender do not qualify, but regular Blackjack is fine.

Since this is another sticky bonus, I'm sure you all know what my strategy will be - all $200 on the first hand. I've been running really lucky... here I go... customer service just offered me a $20 bonus, now I have $220, ok now here I go!

Dealt J3 for 13. Dealer is showing a 7. I hit and get... an Ace. I hit again and get... a Queen! Arggh, I bust. Dealer flips over a Queen in the hole.

Well, looks like my winning streak slammed on the brakes. Oh well, I can't complain, now I'll just have to find another casino bonus to reap!

Ok, next up Vegas Red Casino - exact same rules as Casino Tropez and Casino Del Rio. Here I come!

The odds are with you, that's why it keeps making sense to move forward, even after losing one of those big $100 bets. My next target: Vegas Red Casino.

So, like the previous two casinos, Vegas Red also offers a 100% initial deposit bonus up to $100, a 8x wagering requirement, and restricts Blackjack Surrender and Blackjack Switch from the wagering requirement, but allows regular Blackjack. And once again, my strategy is to bet it all on the first hand.

Vegas Red did not offer me an additional $20 bonus once I joined, but that's ok. I took my spot at the Blackjack table and bet $200 on the first hand.

I am dealt a QJ! 20! Dealer is showing an 8! Then he flips his down card... a 4. He hits himself another 8, a push. Damnit! Well, I bet the $200 again, and this time I'm dealt a 54, the dealer is showing a Q. I'm in trouble. I hit myself a 9, and stay on 18. The dealer flips his hole card... and it's a 5! He hits himself a 9 and busts, and just like that, I'm up $200!

Ok, so now it's time to work off that wagering requirement of $1,600. I've already wagered $400, so only $1,200 more to go.

I'm off to work, I'll get back to this thread as soon as I complete my requirements... and I need a drink

Ok, well I kinda sucked at grinding out the wagering requirement, I went from $400 to $335.50, but I profited $135.50 from Vegas Red Casino, so I'm cool with that.

The next stop on Tyson's Tour of Casino Bonuses - Europa Casino! From the same family as Casino Tropez, Casino Del Rio, and Vegas Red, Europa Casino offers the same bonus and same rules and regulations!
