Default Fold the best hand or get all-in pre-flop

I was at a B&M tourney today and was 2nd in chips with about $30k.
The chip leader sitting to my left had about $37k. We were just moved and it was the 1st hand at the new table. Neither one of us wanted to play a big pot with the other 1 and I knew that I only wanted to get my money in against him with AA or KK or QQ. I was in the BB and he was UTG. Blinds were $1k/$2k and he raised to $5k. As soon as we finish our conversation, I turn up KK. I didnt want to play this hand period with him being the only person that could bust me and I definitely didnt want to play out of position. I re-raised to $15k and he pushed all-in. I knew there was a high chance that he didnt have aces because there was an ace exposed pre-flop. I called and he QQ! Great, a chance to really double and take commanding lead of the game. No other players had more than $20k so I knew I could easily push the rest of the table around. Anyway, he rivered a Q and busted me. Should I have folded there knowing that it would only lead to a huge pot. I could have easily robbed the blinds of all the players and chipped up nicely but I feel like i made the ebst move because I had the best hand. Many of my friends said that I couldve folded KK and just waited til I made the money before i took on the big stack vut I feel like I play to win and that you should get it in with the best hand. Please give me your comments. Thanks

Dude start looking at hands by pretending they end when the money goes in. If you're a favorite when all the money goes in, you made a good play.

You got your money in as any player hopes to, overpair vs underpair. You're a 4-1 favorite to win. These are the kind of situations you want to be in.
