Default Top set with Str + Fl draw board

I just called, because I didn't think I'd be getting either to let go, so I was looking to improve, though I figured I may have the best hand here. Basically, I thought the smooth call ahead of me made the case for a call. Thoughts?

I would have raised instead of calling after the flop.

"Because they won't fold" is a VERY BAD reason not to lead with the best hand. If your argument is you thought you were behind, fold pre flop.

This early in the $40k, the play is very donkish. I'd seen both of these players limping preflop with a WIDE range, meaning T8 is not out of the question for either of them. It was MP's smooth call on the flop that had me a bit worried. I figured I'd call and look for a favorable turn card. That is certainly not something I got.

I can see the argument for raising. How much do you raise? Enough to put shorty all-in and commit yourself if the flop raiser calls?

16 hands out of 2162 are ahead of you on the flop.
You have 7 outs + 10 on river to improve to the nuts.
    You out stack both opponents

You MUST raise this flop! checkoutmyace is pot committed for sure. Safest move is to just push, probably driving the other guy out. The smaller the raise, the more the variance but possibly more profit.

You CANNOT fold this turn! You are getting 2:1 pot odds with 10 outs to the lock, and another 3-7 or so for a split vs. anything but TJ (who called flop with GSSD!... although possibly FD+GS), or made straight + FD (takes away some club outs for the split.)

Plus the guy was pot commited with his call on the flop and MUST make this play with any overpair, probably A9 or 89 or smaller set as well.

if they are that donkish, go allin.

Scary board, but you have to raise IMO and maybe AI it. I have to agree with zinbitz.

the idea that you are so good you can not go broke when someone flops the nut str8 against your top set (with a flush draw out no less!) is going to cost you a lot of chips. This is sort of like folding KK because you 'know' the guy has AA, but it's a lot worse IMO. T8? Come on. If they have it, they have it. I may call your 4x pre flop with 54, that doesn't mean you fold AA on a 344 flop.

The idea that you are calling hoping the draw(s) don't hit... I mean it is just bad. Classic weak tight think. Make them pay to draw at the best hand.

I'll also agree your turn fold is really brutal.

PS bet or so when the action gets to you on the flop.

    Stop thinking so much.
