If he is gonna shut down after you smooth call, you might as well raise and prevent him from seeing a free card and teach him not to stab at your pots. Also, along that line, I think that you missed an oppurtunity preflop to push and send a message not to limp on your blind. The latter can pay off quite well as the game continues.

Agree with MAX with the PF push.

As played, after his bet, there's 200 in the pot and you have 860 behind. I think this pot is too large relative to your stack to slowplay, especially just top pair. I'd go the safe route and push over his flop bet.

i push pf, but flop play is fine. if you push over flop raise you dont get called by many worse hands. only way you can make money on this is picking off a bluff.

I don't mind the preflop check, although I'd raise to 350 and see if he's serious about his hand.

Given that you checked preflop, on the flop I definitely raise to 400 and make him put his whole stack on the line.

    i like it.

Wearing my Doyle Hat, I'll tell you with an A out there is ALWAYS a straight draw. But it is crappy.

I like as long as villain like to bet with nothing.
Push pre-flop is standard with an A.
