johnnyBuz will be using his time bank for this hand.

I immediately regretted the decision I made.

Edit:* BTW, I keep forgetting to raise more then 2x BB in tournies. What is appropriate for AKo, 3x or 4x BB?

Call. Stop playing hands like you're scared of losing.

You can't just call this OOP for 1/4 of your stack. It's a push/fold situation. I'd probably push here because I'm almost always willing to stick it in with AK in a Party SnG because of the fast structure.

I eneded up folding it, wishing I pushed it.

Folding is OK. Pushing is OK. Calling is donkish.

In the early rounds, I generally take it to 4x total as a base (later rounds I do 3x). Then I add .5x for each limper so that I don't end up with a ton of people in.

That's basically with any hand I'm raising - not just AK.

I'll defer to you on this WildBob, since you've been playing longer than I have, but in this situation I would like to see the flop before I start pushing and committing more of my stack. No way is the opp folding (at least I don't think so) so why put in more chips until you know where you stand? Enlighten me.

STACK SIZES! The answer to all things tournament is stack sizes. (At least to me it is maybe when i get better ill change my answer)

Calling is a huge part of ur stack. U are also OOP.

As for pushing, u can often catch him with his pants down with AQ or AJ or a small PP that he can lay down. If he decides to race there is often enough to chips in the pot to make it close to neutral EV.

Mid to strong PP trying to isolate. May fold to re-raise thinking higher pocket pair or overs.

As vcq said, it's about stack sizes. Yours in comparison to the bet is pretty small here. So you want to double up if possible, and to pick up pots like this when you can. You're pushing to increase the chances of doing both. Further, you're taking advantage of something called Folding Equity (the increased value given to your hand by the chance your opp will fold). With as many chips as you have behind you, your Folding Equity is pretty high.

On the other hand, with the blinds as low as they are, folding here is reasonable because you have time to find a better hand/better spot/figure out what huge overbets mean from this opp.

I consider myself enlightened...Thanks guys...And while this thread was developing I just managed my highest finish ever in a PS 180 SNG...9th, but I'll take it. I've only played a half dozen or so of these, made ITM a couple of times and busted on the bubble a couple more, but this is my first final table. THANKS FTR!!!
