Default How do you play his?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    MP2 (t1395)
    MP3 (t1320)
    CO (t690)
    Hero (t1395)
    SB (t1330)
    BB (t1500)
    UTG (t2385)
    UTG+1 (t2055)
    MP1 (t1430)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 4, 4.
    1 fold, UTG+1 calls t50, 2 folds, MP3 calls t50, 1 fold, Hero calls t50, SB completes, BB checks.

    Flop: (t250) 6, 8, Q (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, MP3 checks, Hero checks.

Should I take a stab at the pot, when its checked to me?

    Turn: (t250) 4 (5 players)
SB checks, BB bets t100, UTG+1 calls t100, MP3 folds, Hero raises to t400, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 folds.

How much should I bet at the turn?

    Final Pot: t850

What is the read on the table? If the table is tight I may put in a raise pre-flop to eliminate players and get a better idea of where you are in the hand.

With how you played it I am not sure I would take a stab at this on the flop. Again, it would be a read dependent call.

Why the raise on the turn? You finally have 2 people betting and have hit your miracle card? Yes there is somewhat of a straight draw and a flush draw on the board so I can sort of see taking the pot down right there, however I think a smaller bet would still get rid of the blinds (who are most likely chasing a straight) and get some more chips out of the two others.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

I don't with 4 others in the pot because 1 or more people usually call, and I don't have big enough balls to make another bet when an over card comes on the turn.

If you were big stack I would, because it doesn't hurt your stack size and about the only time I get respect is when the stack is big.

It looks like no one really liked their hand. You can't min-raise because of the straight draw/flush draw. I would bet 300, but that's splitting hairs. You can't always win big with a sweet hand.

    I'd say

    PF - call, wouldn't raise 44
    Flop - check and hope
Turn - raise something, don't want to let a flush/straight hit. Your raise looks g00t with a bet and call before you.

I think a min/raise on the turn here is perfect. Most people will NOT read it as a telling monster, but rather a "I think you are bluffing, but I don't have the balls to really raise".

Drawing hands will still call, and their odds are worse than if you just called. I would avoid getting all my chips in on a diamond (unless you fill up!).

Total crap will call! Slow played AA calls! The only thing you are behind here is 66/88/QQ which are paying off anyway.

Heck, s/p AA probably re-raises you - can't get any better than that!

I would of bet 100 anyway on the flop. Rainbow flop, fairly spaced out board for a straight, Especially if they quick checked to you.

You played it well. Like others have said...

You don't want to raise PF, you just want to call because you are getting good odds to hit your set.

You missed your set and there are 4 other players in the pot, chances are good that one of those limpers hit something. You won't take a fish off his queen at this stage in the game, so better to check. You shouldn't be in this pot except that everyone was limping pre-flop, so don't worry about giving it up to a bet here.

Now you've hit your set and you are probably ahead. There was a bet and a call ahead of you so the pot is now T450. There is a straight and flush draw out there now, so you want to lay poor odds for those hands to call.

I like your T400 bet because even if one of the better/caller/players left to act, the next player still isn't getting good odds on the draws. With a smaller bet, as soon as one players comes in, they all have odds to come down with you.

I think it was well played.

I liked it too, which is another way of saying that's how I'd have played it (maybe 300 on the turn). Whether that's the *right* way is moot.

I think betting on the flop would be horrible. You limped to set, you missed, even if it's checked to you, betting will usually get you at least a call which will leave you with a though (unnecessary) decision on the turn. Anyway, you want to risk more chips to sweep a 250 pot? Check and hope for a 4 on the turn, else be in check/fold mode IMO. On the turn, you hit gold! I'd raise it to about 300 I guess and see what happens.

Call pre-flop. Check to get a free card on flop. Someone could be waiting for someone to bet and then check raise them. Min reraise turn to keep people in the hand. If no action on the river throw out a small bet to get something out of them. If lots of action get it all in unless 3 to a str8 or flush is showing.
