    this is SOOOOO read dependant.

Well there's 1150 in the pot and 1125 in your stack. It seems like a push situation but that raise would certainly worry me as well. It seems like he would just push if he wanted to race.

Agree - I really worry when opp re-raises a calculated amount that is half of his stack rather than pushing. It's as if he is begging to be put all-in holding a big hand like QQ-AA, although AK might do this too. If he didn't want a call (eg. if he was trying to re-steal) he would have just pushed. For that reason I don't hate the fold, although to me it's finely balanced between push and fold. Tough spot.

I fold this unless you feel like a race and the races(at Stars) have been horrible to me the past week. I fold.

    Worst. Reason. Ever.
But probably not a bad decision. I think I push over here way TOO often... you get so few big hands in an SNG that it makes me sad to lay down AK. Also, by the time the blinds hit 50/100 I am stealing with impunity more or less. It's still 8-handed though. I think in a regular, non-turbo, non-800 chipper you have to cry and fold here.

I got AKo 3 times in the last SnG i played. 1 time i called a 2xbb raise on blind level 1 but then there was a big raise (~10xbb) and a push over the top so i folded. Turns out if i called i would have been up against AA and JJ, and lost. The other 2 times i ended up all in preflop and was called by AcKc both times (weird huh?). Opp didn't hit flush either time so we tied. I ended up winning that tournament. Just goes to show folding AK is not always a bad thing.

Generally if 2 people show major strength preflop and i don't have a read that they will push any ace, i will fold AK preflop.
The poker gods love me really, they are just testing my faith !

I believe AK is more valuable in an MTT than SnG -- you have more fold equity because fewer people are willing to race for all their chips. In a SnG you'll very often have someone with 50 BB putting all their chips in with TT.

    Agree, disagree?
