Default pre-flop raise from small stack

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (7 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    SB (t1185)
    swiggidy (t2711)
    UTG (t2805)
    MP1 (t755)
    MP2 (t7450)
    CO (t2300)
    Button (t4075)

Preflop: swiggidy is BB with 9, 9.
    1 fold, MP1 raises t150 to t200, 4 folds, swiggidy?

I think I can usually find a fold here. It's clearly either push or fold, and why flip here for most of your stack with nothing invested?

Im sure there are some who would push though, and my play would probably end up depending on reads. If Shorty had just taken a bad beat and may be on tilt, maybe I'm pushing. If Shorty was a LAGG who is known to raise a lot of hands I'm probably pushing. If Shorty is an ultra-tight rock then I'm insta-folding.

So in the end this is probably read dependant but I think I usually lean towards folding.

I would be careful considering short stack is raising 4xBB rather than pushing. If you've got a good read on him and you're sure your 9s are ahead, hit him with a re-raise and enough of one to flush everyone else out of the pot. I don't like pushing though.

I had just moved tables so I didn't really have a read. I figured I'm either way behind or only slightly ahead so I folded. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't too weak.

Oops, I was puzzled by why Aplomado didn't agree with me that it was a push/fold situation. I read the HH wrong and thought hero was SB with only 1185. My fault.

Everybody else is already out, so it's head to head against the short stack. Push.

The only thing you misread was the # of people left. So given that we're heads up you would push too?

I think so. I'm kind of surprised the small stack isn't pushing so that's somewhat of a risk, but you've got him covered with 99 so I see no problem with it.

i would advocate a push for a few reasons. first, he only has 755 in chips, and you might be up against overs. second, I've seen so many people that dont know how to play as a short stack lately that i no longer give a shortstack raise the credit that i might have otherwise. and third, if this was a 'call me' raise, why did he make it such a big one. a short stack min raise might arouse more suspicion than a short stack 4xBB raise. looks like he wants to steal, but doesnt want to put all of his chips at risk.

pretty well the only argument against pushing that i can find here is that the blinds are still pretty low, so he doesnt necessarily have to get too involved yet, especially from that position.

    Very true.

You have to push. Well, you don't have to, but it's the best option. If he has AA, so what. I don't think you're crippled if your beat.

I would push, I think most of the time you are facing two overs, or even better Ax
