how to figure im beat

Ok I'll say I lost this hand. I just wanna know what can I do differently so I can maybe lay this down or maybe cheaply show it down instead. I thought I was golden so I went heavy on the river.

Without position raise preflop and take control of the hand. Lead out pot size pot on flop and if called slow down when Q hits because of AQ posibility. Don't go all in on river with top pair.

I don't like the river bet size.

edit: Actually, the turn + river both show some really bad pot size control.

I used your aggressive strategy (raise, raise and when in doubt reraise) yesterday and I can tell you it worked like a charm. Basically I made a concious decision to try raising in some situations where I would normally just call and I got a lot of folds and few times got called by worse hands. Let go of some hands when I gou pushed all in.

My normal 7bb/100 was over 20bb/100 yesterday and I know it is very small sample size but I think I will continue to try to improve on this style.

I think potting the turn and river out of position is a little extreme. He's already called your flop check raise indicating he has at least top pair. I would go maybe $4 on the turn, not sure about the river if he calls that. Depends on the opponent really, how likely is it that he has AJ, AT, A9? The guy minraised a limper preflop, minbet the flop, called a check raise, then called the turn when you potted it. I would slow down on the river for sure, unless this guy is an uber-fish.

AK sucks out of position - top pair type hands are so hard to play in this spot.

There are lots of ways to play it. I just hate betting $20 on the river with $10 behind that I'm committed to call.

Why is it weak? Are you afraid he will raise you off your hand with air? I only overbet the turn if this guy is a total fish who'll call anything to hit his flush. Other then that, you have to consider the possibility that your beat and possibly be a bit more cautious until you find out your not beat.

I think I value bet the river, just make a bet that could possibly be called by a weaker hand.

Raise preflop, you probably have the best hand and it might stop them min raising your blind.

Flops okay and I like the turn, really make weaker hands / draws pay. I'd usually check call that river, just limping in like that the villian could have made 2 pair / set so as Fnord said you need to limit the size of the pot.

Also you give a chance for a busted draw to bluff at you when they would instantly fold to a bet.
