This really depends on comfort, but I like to keep the number of buyins relative to the level I'm playing. I'd play a $5 R/A on a $550 bankroll, leaving 100 buyins, because I know I can cash more frequently because the field is softer.

Shouldn't we look at it as though a R&A costs about 5x the buy-in? |

At Stars I'll always be paying 3x the buy-in at a minimum because you add-on immediately and then again at the end. If you get knocked out one time in the first hour then you re-buy & add-on and thats 5x. |

Yah, 5x is in no way excessive, unless you plan to leave the tourney when your AK doesnt win all in preflop. (and if you are folding AK, or even AQ for that matter, to an all in preflop.. well you are just wasting your time in stars rebuys.)

It really depends, sometimes I rebuy 9x or even 11x. Last week in the 45k I spent $150.

I think all JCoop was saying was that on average you should be spending 5x the buyin in an R&A. Sometimes you'll get lucky and only have to spend 3x, but others you will be up to 9.

I agree. I'd probably only feel comfortable with 750 buy-ins at these things. so for a $5+1, I'd want a $4500 bankroll, but I'm kinda conservative.
