    Default Limping AK

I decided to experiment with AK a bit just to see if I could gather more chips with it, instead of taking a standard pre-flop raise line. Goal: make it harder for opps to put me on a hand. Here's a couple, a few minutes apart... (I was a luckbox on the second):

Don't you want to get information from your opponents?

It's strictly an experiment in letting them define their hands in advance without paying them up-front for the info (and letting them put chips into the pot that might not otherwise go there if I'd raised). I'm going to play around with it and add to this thread as I collect more hands.

    Call me crazy...

    And the finale...

PokerStars Tournament #18509025, No Limit Hold'em
    Buy-In: $10.00/$1.00
    18 players
    Total Prize Pool: $180.00
    Tournament started - 2006/01/23 - 00:33:20 (ET)

    Dear Warpe,

You finished the tournament in 1st place.
A $72.00 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

    Congratulations!
    Thank you for participating.

I'm convinced that the extra chips that went into the pot on the first two limped hands gave me the chip advantage I needed to lean on small stacks later in the tourney...and my fold equity on a re-raise was unbelievable. There was a lot of tanking going on.

the way u limp AK and then proceed to play it afterwards is far different from the way i limp and play AK postflop.

yes the stacks are different (and that makes a huge differnece) but at a PP SNG i dont contest hand 1 as hard as u do.

First hand I hate how you played it and it looked like the deck hit you in the face after that, especially hand 2. You were lucky to win those races in hands 3 and 4.

Objective on the first hand was to see if he had a J, to rep that I had one, then when the ace came on the turn rep a fh. I limped pre-flop...AJ would do that. If he'd reraised/pushed on the flop I would've folded, but he didn't.

Races are always a matter of luck to a large extent...point is, I could AFFORD to race. I'm a pretty good shortstack player so if I got beat, I'm still in the game.

as for gaining information, you will usually get a better idea of what someone is holding if you let them take the lead, at least at the level of the 11's.
