Default Will somebody please bet? (72o)

I was shortstacked and needed to double up, so I wanted someone to take a stab at this first...but no takers. Finally, I just pushed on the river, hoping somebody would read it as a bluff and call me. Luckily, I got a bite...

sometimes you just have to wait for someone to make some kind of hand.

You played this hand exactly the way it should be played every time considering the 4th street suit mixer.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

3 limpers? Bet the flop! You're lucky no one caught a straight.

I was looking for chips, not folds.

You're looking to get beat if you check that to the river 4-handed.

I think you're missing the point.

Rockymv: To explain...In this situation, I am shortstacked and need to double up soon to survive in the tourney. With everybody limping, there was a very good possibility I could have taken down the pot uncontested if I had bet the flop.

But, in order to double up, I needed to get as many chips into the pot as possible, and to do that I needed someone else to make a commitment to contesting the pot. Hence checking the flop and the turn, with the hope that someone else would would catch a piece and bet. When the Q came on the turn, I was really hoping someone would pair up, but that didn't happen. So, in the end, it was push and hope I got a caller, which did happen (by an opp who caught a piece on the river).

There is no flush draw, and there is no straight draw other than for someone holding 56, which is only really likely out of the BB (which on this particular hand is me, which is why I'm playing 72o). So the only real dangers are someone with the other 7 and a bigger kicker, or someone catching trip Qs on the river and beating me with a higher fh. Someone pairing Qs on the turn would probably be betting there and giving me the action I needed to push anyway. (Edit: I forgot 44 & 74 - a made fh on the flop, and 88, fh on the river).

I have to think I'm ahead on every street here. If I was chip leader, I would probably play this hand the same way.

this is fine because the blinds are so big. with small blinds bet out with it.

It sure is hard to have that kind of patience, although I do believe that even a min bet prior to the river would have resulted in folds by everyone.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.
