    Default call this push?

whats the correct play here? he had pushed a few times already within the last 2 orbits... is A high ahead here, or at least is it worth the chips to find out?

    i think i call here.

i have him on something like
    A2+, K5+, Q9+, JT+, 55+ as a push range.
That might be too tight tho.

I really don't like doubling up short stacks on spec, so I usually like two kicks at the cat with a decent kicker. It's over 10% of your stack so I'd let someone else do it.

when it's under 10% of your stack should you start calling with any two?
  5. #5
That's what Harrington says - if the short stack's AI is less than 10% of your stack, call with any two. I guess that only really works if there are no active players behind you, it would be really bad to be calling with any two and be re-raised...

With live players behind, you have to push (or at least re-raise) to isolate. You *can* do this with any two if you stack is big enough and live players are tight enough.

In this case... I can fold A5 here. Even if he has a low A, you will probably split. You are really only ahead of KX (which is probably in his range), plus you never know when that BB might get frisky.

With your read, I might push over. There is a reasonable chance he is pushing Qs/Js, or even crapola.

look at the stack sizes, this would be an instacall were it not for the big stack yet to act. i click the raise button...BB won't do anything without a very good hand. there's no need to push, a smaller reraise does the same thing with less risk.

too many yet to act and you'd have to push to isolate - fold it.

What am I missing here? There's only one person yet to act and you don't have to push to isolate.
  10. #10
I would fold it. You are dominated much more often (by bigger A and pp) than you dominate him.
  11. #11
I cant see how you can be dominated more often to not in this situation. He has 4xbb on the CO, you could almost push with any 2 in this situation. I think your ahead way more often than not here, the problem is whether or not to just call or raise to isolate. For some reason I feel like only calling, but it depends on what kind of player BB is

fjuani - what hands, exactly, does A5 dominate? A[432]? Probably a split anyway.

K5 and Q5 I guess. You are likely to have 1 over though, but 3:2 is not domination. Plus villian is pushing with 55/66/77 which don't techncially dominate you, but have a big edge (70:30).

If blinds are 200/400 this is an easy call. V says it's +EV anyway... I think it's pretty slim though.

SNG Power Tools says if he's pushing the default 'maniac' range its +.6%. He's probably push a slightly tighter range than this so its close. I still think I reraise (not push) and see what happens.

I'm not saying you would be dominating, I'd say you would be ahead. Im thinking Kx, Qx, Jx.

I would wait for a better spot, A4 is easily dominated and is very rarely dominating
