I'm on campus right now, waiting for my friend to finish up classes so I'll be looking over games til about 5pm. I'll edit my post when I'm done or later tonight when I arrive home.
<<edit>> Ok, I could still make more picks (haven't looked at NBA yet), but here's what I came up with so far. [4 games]
Michigan St. -1.5
Northwestern -1
La Salle +6.5
South Carolina +3
Like everyone else, I went with the Spartans. State was 8-4 ATS last year coming off a win over a conf. rival (85-55 over Iowa), plus I think they are hot right now.
Northwestern was 4-2 ATS v. teams with a losing record last year (Purdue 7-10), while Purdue is 8-13 ATS revenging a road loss to an opponent since '01-'02 (@Northwestern on 1/4, Purdue lost 53-66). Vukusic was on fire that game, torching the Boilermakers for 28. I'm expecting him to have another big game. Also, Purdue was 6-10 ATS @ home last year.
This may seem like a road game for the Explorers (10-4 ATS on the road last year), however they play a number of games at the Palestra each year. Coming off a tough loss to St. Joe's, La Salle was 7-3 ATS last year after scoring less than 60 pts. (54-66 loss v. St. Joe's).
South Carolina was 7-4 ATS vs. good defensive teams (FLA 62.1PA), and they played Florida tough last season. I still think FLA is overachieving, and if Brewer is still Q, that could hurt FLA if he doesn't play.
