Default 3 handed - pot odds v better spot

    Stars $10+1 SnG. ITM.

Big Blind is t400, with t25 antes (3 handed)

    Staresy (t4205)
    SB (t2445)
    BB (t6850)

Preflop: Staresy is Button with 7, 9.
Staresy raises to t1200, SB raises to t2420, 1 fold,

    Pot: t4095

Villian is fairly tight, standard $11 SnG fare. Nothing particularly stunning about his play, but nothing particularly fishy either. Range = A7+, 55+, QJ+, but I would have to give him credit for a hand here.

You are now being offered 3.35:1 to call this, however, if you lose (and it’s highly likely you are behind here), you double up his stack and leave yourself with ~1800 chips, which leaves you in push/fold mode. Plus, you have now potentially set yourself up as the guy who raises with nothing.

Do you go strictly with the odds or fold, leaving yourself with ~3000 chips and wait for a better spot?

I fold. remember this guy pushed even though the BB has yet to act so he may have something nice or it could be a resteal if you've been stealing alot.

the question is why are you trying to steal when the bigstack is in the BB, with 79o no less?
Success is how high you bounce after hitting bottom.

I'd pause for quite a while, like I'm trying to decide if I want to let these awesome cards go, then fold. You really don't want them to see your cards, but at the same time you don't want to be the guy that can be easily pushed around. Just don't hit the fold button too quickly....

I agree, but would also add that you shouldn't necessarily wait till the VERY end before folding as well. To me that looks like someone who is pausing on purpose.

I would wait a little while, then maybe type "nice hand" in the chat window and fold. You tried a steal and it didn't work. Leave it at that.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.
