Journey most likely has a hand like QK.

I look for a better spot than one where I'm facing a 4x raise and a call. You're destined to be at best a coinflip here, and it's quite possible that you end up getting called by both, making it very likely that you bust. You could also be dominated, and you're really not that short yet.

Reads change things a bit, but it would take some pretty strong information telling me they'll lay down before I like this play.

Calling is 1/4 of your stack to basically set hunt, so it's either push/fold here, and I wouldn't want to tangle with the big stack if he's got half a hand. Think I'm folding.

Yeah. I didn't state this, but assumed it. Calling here is just plain silly.

I was actually more worried about hustlr calling a push then Journey, but I thought I could get them both to fold.

    Results:

    chardrian: Raise (6,750)
    ajf505 : Fold
    beymoor : Fold
    mikechr23: Fold
    Hustlr : Fold
Journey : Call (5,150) with [Qh Kd]

nice read... sort of. I guess fat end of the flip is a good result for your stack size.

I think what people are failing to realize in all these cases is that the fat end of the flip is my fallback.

One of my leaks used to be calling in these situations cuz I thought "I have to win a race at some point"

By pushing in these cases, I am not hoping to race - I am hoping to take it down preflop. And if someone who plays like I used to actually calls - ok, then come on luckbox.
