I think u have it, either way that was a safety bet because if he doesnt have a ten u get money out of him, and if he has a 10 i see him reraising u... if hes got a lower pair u still take a decent pot, i honesdtly could think he has over pair and is scared of ur trips but had to find out...

so howd it go, and what are u asking ofr help with?
    I am that fish...

    currently broke as a joke...

In fact, he had QQ. Given the way he played it I put him on AK or AQ and thought a small river bet would take the pot.

Just wondering if I was justified in thinking this.

as soon as he bets $4 on the turn, i rep the trips. raise it up to $12... You can get him to drop overpairs there, and if you are reraised you know it's an easy fold.

Rocky - from the look of it I thought your 8s were goot, but even so I'd check behind on the river - doubt that anything that loses to you calls your bet and you risk getting raised.

Ripp - I have tried the raise-the-cbet-on-the-flop line before - and I feel that I somtimes get involved in building a pot not knowing where I stand and I almost always feel obligated on amking a strong turn bet if the turn is a blank and is checked to me.

What (GENERAL) approach do you take on a flat call of your flop raise in this situation?

Ugh. That river bet is disgusting. It's like the opposite of a value bet. It has zero fold quity, so you only get called when your beat. Sure AK is getting great pod odds on the river, but what the hell could you possibly have that he's beating now? If I'm sitting in villian's shoes with AK and check the river, I'd be more comfortable calling a 1/2 - 3/4 pot bet than calling a $6 bet like you did. Put it this way. How often are you throwing out a 1/6 pot bet on the river with Q high or less? You are pinning him on AK, so why not just check behind? I think you need to commit to playing this hand a certain way starting from the turn. Raise to see if he's weak and at the same time rep trips, or just call down to pick off his missed AK.
