Default A first hand decision (Stars $10+1)

Very first hand at the table, so naturally I have no reads.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    Button (t1500)
    Hero (t1500)
    BB (t1500)
    UTG (t1500)
    UTG+1 (t1500)
    MP1 (t1500)
    MP2 (t1500)
    MP3 (t1500)
    CO (t1500)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, K.
5 folds, CO calls t20, 1 fold, Hero raises to t90, BB raises to t400, CO folds, Hero...?

If you feel like flipping coins reraise all in. In most situations I think its JJ, QQ...but you never know, theres always a few maniacs

dont think you can flat call since 1/3 of your chips will be in the middle and you'll be out of position

id personally rather play some poker and fold

So you're saying that I should readily take a probable coinflip preflop all in on the first hand of a SnG? Why is this good?

reraise all-in or fold - it's up to you as to whether you want to dance this early. There was another recent thread with the same situation, but the opp was a known maniac and the raise was only 200, so I suggested calling. (it was also an unsuited AK) Here, you have no info and the raise is huge. You can't put in almost 1/3 of your stack and fold the flop cuz you miss - you need to see all 5 cards. And you know he'll push on the flop. Push or fold. I would push - because they're suited and too pretty to fold.

Look at it this way - if you just call and miss the flop and fold to his inevitable push on the flop - you'll be kicking yourself saying you should have pushed or folded preflop. If you call and hit the flop and he folds to your bet, you'll be kicking yourself for not making him put in all his chips preflop....

    Good answer, thanks konahead!

    I folded preflop because I'm a wuss.

Pushing increasing hourly rate, but probably decreases ROI and certainly ITM%.

It's an $11... hand 1 you will get calls with AQs/AKs/ATs even the occasional "lagg" fish playing mid-high suited connectors.

Raise is a little too high for AA/KK methinks... but that implies villianthinks.

The reraise is too huge to be AA, or KK, probably up against 77-QQ, AQ+, its easy to say push and in a turbo i would do just that, but this is a normal tourny. doubling up here does not improve your chances of winning that much and if you race and lose your out. so i fold.
Success is how high you bounce after hitting bottom.

Disagree. It might not improve you chances of 1st, but certainly ITM%. ITM is important to ROI in SNGs. XYZ. PDQ. LMNOP.

With 3000 chips in an SNG I can just sleep until the blinds are 100/200. I need PS/PP to make a different sound when I get AA/KK/QQ/AK... The "rock" mod.

I can do this without risking all of my chips. my goal is to make it to 6 handed or blinds 50/100 with at least T1500 then open up. I think this would increase your ITM% and ROI% just as much or more with less risk.
