well, you're getting 5-1 that he has nothing - but he doesn't need the straight to beat you - any 5, 8, or 4 will do. I'd just fold it out. I think he's got the 5 or the 4 - he was bb and got in free. If you wanted the pot, you should have acted earlier, like preflop...

I actually dont mind this so much, you would be amazed at the 11's how many people will limp AQ AJ AT or even KQ then call an all in. Yes even at these blinds. Your chances of winning the hand by limp checking is pretty small. Your chance of winning the hand by just pushing is probably around 90%. You get all folds 70% of the time, when you do get calls you are obviously at worse a coinflip, and often youre ahead (more ways to make the unpaired hands in the calling range then the paired ones). So if you win on 60% of the time youre called thats another 18%. So like I said, nearly 90% win rate here.

Raise preflop and play some poker. VQ, I think that you are too worried about making wrong decisions, and therefore avoid decisions, and it costs you EV in 2 ways. You are missing out by not getting more money into the pot when you hold the best cards, and you are slowing your growth as a player by getting less experience from your time at the table. How much do you learn if you play like this and then play push fold starting at level 3? Even if it cost you $$, mixing it up early(at least when you have AK!), or even better, playing some NL25 will be great for your game. Not meant to be anything other than constructive.

i play the AK differently in NL25 than I do in a SNG.

But I understand wat u mean.

i try my hand in thinking!

    i dont run from descisions
I just have a conscious descision to undervalue AK in in this exact situation preflop.

I was running so badly in the sngs, i've quit sngs for a while, and am playing the $25NL - and it's helping round out my skills a lot.

I know you like sngs, but I strongly suggest you give it a shot, if only for a little while to have some fun post-flop. I think you'd do really well - I certainly am.

since you're only asking about the river - just let it go. The pot is so small.

I am calling this on the river just like you did. Not that I think I have the best hand, I just want to see what he has.

It is only $15 and it is still very early. I want to see if he is really slow playing trips, like many do at this level, or if he hit the straight or 2 pair.

Now I probably would have bet at least on the turn to get some information. Probably would have come out with a pot sized bet to see if I could get them to fold.
