Default Did i play this draw wrong??????????

Ok heres the situation............ Im in the BB with A-9 suitted (spades) the blinds are 1k-2k......... everyone but the button folds to me so ive seen the button player play before and he had limped with high PP's and A-k. I just check, the button has over 120k in chips and i have 30k.

THe flop comes K-Q-3 and two cards on the board are spades. now i know the guy will bet huge if i check, so i put out a 4k bet and he just calls..... ( I suspect he has a set) then the turn is another rag like a 7 of some other suit that has no relevence. So i bet 4k again expecting to get raised, but he just calls again.
Now the River comes a 2 of spades. I bet out 4k and he raises me all in and i call and he had 3 queens. Then he got mad at me and called me the fish............
Now do you think i played this hand right???

You played it ok. With a stack of 30K and the blinds are 1K/2K you need to push preflop. As played push flop.

Stop listening to fish when they call u a fish. Let me explain why in fact he was the donk here. You were pricing your own flush draw, he's calling down, which to you, with your read, could mean he is either slowplaying or is on a draw himself (lower flush draw, OESD, etc.). Both of you made reasonably good plays on the flop and turn. The mistake in the hand was made by him on the river. Fish have this tendency to go allin when the only hand that calls them has them beat. Case in point, a fish pushes the river here with a set. A good player just calls if they they think u're on say top pair. A great player folds to your river bet. He's the fish, don't let him convince you otherwise. Well played.

I don't think that villain made a mistake on the river as much on the flop. All this talk about fish is ridiculous. Villain should have reraised the flop with a flush draw board. He set a trap preflop and got his card. He should have protected his hand and made it costly for hero to suck out. I think it's kind of odd to call villain a fish if he has 120K and hero has 30K when the blinds are a combined 3K.

I play this the same, you're basically pricing your own draw, as lambchop said. We call these "blocking bets," where you're out of position and you bet to prevent the opponent from pricing you out. Well played. Lucky for you, he was slowplaying and put you on something other than a flush draw. Although I see these sorts of bets all the time, even deep in MTTs, and in his spot I would probably put you all in right on the flop.

If I hadn't seen him limp strong hands earlier I would push preflop, but if you know he's a fish you can get away with making these "blocking bets."

Open-pushing or check-raising the flop is probably the last thing I would do.

Thanks for the input guys......... I learned the hard way how to play draws. TO many times i would check the flop UTG. but i figured if i check and then i call his bet, its obvious im on a draw. So if i come out and bet then its hard to put me on a flush draw.
I think its benefitial to bet on draws, because i learned if your gonna have to call a bet you might as well be the better. Its amazing how many hands i have picked up just betting my draws and come the river if i dont hit i usually bet and alot of the times they just fold!!!!!!
