Default JJ - strange push from villian

Stars $10+1 - Villian has been relatively quiet, picked up a couple of pots, but no showdowns

Big Blind is t50 (8 handed)

    BB (t1605)
    Staresy (t1465)
    UTG+1 (t1685)
    MP1 (t835)
    MP2 (t2805)
    CO (t1485)
    Button (t1520)
    SB (t2100)

Preflop: Staresy is UTG with J, J.
Staresy calls t50, 1 fold, MP1 calls t50, MP2 calls t50, CO calls t50, 1 fold, SB completes, BB raises to t1605, Staresy scratches his head.....

    No hindsight for the blind.
    HalvSame calls and
    a) smiles when villain turns over TT.
    b) is ok with the flip when villain turns over AK
    b) cries when villain turns over QQ, KK, AA.

    Easy fold with your read.

    Raise preflop.

I'd fold this though. He could be pushing something like 99 TT because no one has shown strength, but I think its much more likey you are dominated or at best a coin flip, which IMO there is no need for now.
    BR: $.1k
    Goal 2: July 1 $10k

IIbeatsUU: lol u raised with that?

Raising this preflop is more optional than compulsory. While I prefer to always raise JJ preflop, limping can also be a +EV play.

Really strange, but it's really not worth it.

I'm sure you think you can outplay these guys, and you have plenty of time and chips to do that with.

I would absolutely dump this without hesitation. The chances you're flipping or worse is too great here, and it's still way too early to be flipping. Also, I like your limp here because Jacks like small pots. It's a made hand that is easily outdrawn and has very few redraws. I like to keep those pots as small as possible at this stage of the tourney unless I flop the set.

you're right its weird. A big pair wants a call, but someone wanting a call doesnt bet this big. I'm thinking a steal attempt with 99,10 10, maybe down to 77.. But why risk such a stack at this point? why not just bet 250? I dont know- weird hand, I probably fold it.

    Weird

There is a good chance he has total crap and scratches his hand saying - everybody limps, they have weak hands, they will fold to a big bet, its 200 chips for the taking.

I think you are ahead here, or at worst a coinflip

I think calling is profitable(especially considering that there is a couple hundred in the pot). I'll at least rule out AA here, and he could do this with AK/mid pockets+. PVS is possible too. Waiting to press your edge or for a better spot to get your money in is perfectly understandable, especially if yor are not playing a bunch of tables. I wouldn't fault playing it either way. I probably let it go.
