Yes. If you're going to put 20% of your stack in the pot you have to call the all-in. You're better off just folding the first time around than doing this.

everything I have read suggest I should have reraised to verify whether or not I am against AA or KK.

No other hand would have pushed all in would they?

The above hand was the first hand in the tourney. Below are the only other hands I got to participate in before I was eliminated. I am not one to complain about bad beats, but I think this is the unluckiest sng I have every played. Please look at the below hands and tell me if I did anything incorrectly.

There's no reason to reraise with AK that early. With 1500 chips I call and use my position postflop. In a party sng I don't know what I'd do. I definitely wouldn't min-reraise though. I think pushing would be a better idea than a reraise of that amount.
  6. #6
I agree. I rarely reraise with AK here. And PP sngs are like a completely different game so I dont know what your suppose to do.

IIbeatsUU: lol u raised with that?

you mini raised, therefore you desereve whatever you get....

Yeah, first hand I wouldn't re-raise AK, I'd call and see if I hit an A or a K on the flop and go from there. Plus, if I was going to re-raise, I wouldn't minraise, it just looks weak, do you really think he's going to fold for another 65 chips? It's almost inviting a push over IMO, which you got!

As played, I think you have to call - it's a further 575 chips to see a pot of 970 so you're getting almost 1.7 to 1 on the call and the only hands you're not getting the right price for are AA and KK.

To a min-reraise, opp's pushing range to your min-reraise may include hands like AK, QQ, JJ, maybe even TT and AQ. First hand of the tourney makes it harder, but I definitely don't think a push only means AA and KK.

    On your other hands:
    - AQo - good fold, no way you can call this with an AI and a call in front
    - AJo - out of position, I think I check this one down. I don't think the check-raise works, would opp really think that the flop would have helped you a monster given you called his raise?
    - 66, AA - wp, bad luck on the AA hand.
  8. #8
I call the original raise and see a flop in position. At pp, someone pushing ai on the first hand of an 11 does not mean AA/KK. I think a conservative estimate is 1010+/AQs+ and often less. So you might as well gamble after he pushes.

The other hands look fine to me. You could push the turn or river of the AJ hand. If you knew opp. was decent, a push is worth it on the turn with the pot being greater than your stack and screaming bb special on that board, a decent opp. would reraise with overpair on the flop and would not have odds to call your push on a draw.
