    Default Advice needed

I had been at this table for a whopping 3 hands when this hand came up. We have just (barely) made the money. I am now looking for that one hand to double me up.

    Game #1283110364 - Tournament $80,000 R&A - 2,000/4,000 No Limit Texas Hold'em -
    2006/02/12-23:39:19.7 (CST)
    Table "$80,000 R&A 97" (MTT) -- Seat 3 is the button
    Seat 1: Driller61 (105,827 in chips)
    Seat 2: kool3r (74,158 in chips)
Seat 3: PearlJams (32,224 in chips)
Seat 4: Arthur Wang (10,530 in chips)
Seat 5: coolriverjoe (84,386 in chips)
    Seat 6: matte_mus (62,068 in chips)
Seat 7: NOGERA (122,944 in chips)
    Seat 8: Donkey75 (178,881 in chips)
Seat 10: chardrian (64,920 in chips)
    kool3r : Ante (200)
    PearlJams: Ante (200)
    Arthur Wang: Ante (200)
    coolriverjoe: Ante (200)
    matte_mus: Ante (200)
    NOGERA : Ante (200)
    Donkey75: Ante (200)
    chardrian: Ante (200)
    Driller61: Ante (200)
Arthur Wang: Post Small Blind (2,000)
    coolriverjoe: Post Big Blind (4,000)
    Dealing...
Dealt to chardrian [ Kh ]
Dealt to chardrian [ Ac ]
    matte_mus: Fold
    NOGERA : Fold
    Donkey75: Fold
    chardrian: ???

Standard raise here or just push? I am beginning to think a push was a better play, but that might be because I'm pissed about the ending.

    Raise (12,000)
    Driller61: Call (12,000)
    kool3r : Fold
    PearlJams: Fold
    Arthur Wang: Fold
    coolriverjoe: Fold
    *** FLOP *** : [ 4h 9h 5h ](pot about 32k and I have about 50k)
    chardrian: ???

If he has a pp I am screwed, but I have 2 overs and 2nd nut flush draw. And if he has a hand like AQ I might get him to fold.

    chardrian: Raise (18,000)
    Driller61: Raise (36,000)
chardrian: ??? He minraised me!!! But at this point can I get away from the hand?? I'm drawing dead to the nut flush, but tons of outs to a smaller flush and/or racing a hand like AhQs.

boy, push sort of sucks, not so much for this hand, but if it works and next hand you pick up AA, do you push again? Assuming it has been getting folds I like 3x here.

With that flop I'm not feeling a fold. It's a fun spot to check raise if you decide you're going with it anyway. Plus if he checks behind and something like a Q pops off he may not like the PP anymore.

With him having a larger stack than you, I think you have to stick your dick on the chopping block either preflop or ont he flop, regardless of the cards. Its not like you can really play this hand halfway with a stack like that, so I am looking at a shove here because it gives you the best chance to win this hand.

    does that make sense?

I push this simply to avoid a situation like this.

The way this hand played out, with that flop you HAVE to go with this hand at this stage in the tournament. I'd probably just open push the flop.

I'm pushing as well. I will take down the blinds if no one calls which is fine with me. It would allow me to survive just a little bit longer. With AK late I am usually pushing when I am short because it allows me to stay out of tough decisions on the flop and I don't get out played. Such a tough hand to play when you don't hit on the flop and they bet into you or reraise you. If I did play it the way you did, I would push the flop.
