Default Multitabling the Micro MTT on Stars...

Is this viable way to get your feet wet in MTT, without risking a lot of chips and building some experience? The $1-3 NL games get around 1k players in each. It's easy to load up 4+ every 10 minutes or so.. (they get all bunched up at one point in the evenings) and get them all running at once... I play TAG, and chug along... I've only down about 12 like this.. getting 12th, 4th, 17th.. and several crappy low ITM finishes thanks to Stars...

Is this a legitimate way to practice MTTs or should I be saving my money?

I think it's definatly a good way to get some cheap MTT experience in.

I did about 6 last night.. and had a pretty rough go of it.

Would I be better off, working up from STT to 2-5 table SnGs, or would these larger tournaments be the best way to practice?

The few MT SnGs I've played seem really soft... so do the MTTs, but with fields usually 1k+.. the MTTs take a really LONG ass time to play.

Any thoughts on where the money for this experience is better spent?

What are you wanting to play, ultimately? If you're going to go for MTTs, then I'd say play there. Look at them taking a long time as a bonus - that much more learning for your dollar.

If the issue of not making any decent money most of the time is a problem, then take another look at SnGs perhaps (that's the reason I played SnGs as my game of choice for 6 months or so), but if you can stand the streaks of getting nothing and you ultimately want to be playing MTTs, I'd stick with them. And I do agree that this is a good way to learn them.
    I run a training site...

    FYP.

I'm sure you get a great audience telling the $1 buyin MTT crowd how Stars is screwing you over. That's because you're all fish.

Aside from that, playing the micros is good.

I wasn't trying to insinuate that I was getting screwed... rather that the 20% payout structure that Stars uses allowed me to get ITM several times but nothing that paid out much...

Thanks for info guys. Much appreciated...
