Here is an extract from my PS notes.txt file (all from SNG play), i would love to see examples of other peoples notes. As you can see I dont label people that much but rather try and note down examples of plays they make, dont know if this is good or bad.

I have tried to make a system regarding my notes. My notes look like this:

Playing style: Loose Aggressive
Raise prf: 3xBB with KK in EP
Limp: AKs i LP
Allin: go allin on the flop with MPGK (meaning middlepair good kicker)
Calls Allin: calls another alling with TPGK
Pot-buyer?: Likes to make continuation bets on the flop. Call him and bet on the turn, and he will often fold

When short stack, and the blinds are high, will go allin with almost eveyrthing to take the blinds

First of all, BLAH! I'm not a HE!

Second, if you are using those notes against me now, that's a big mistake. Players change over time, so here's a suggestion for note taking (at least on PokerStars).

Since you have unlimited note taking space, just go ahead and use it up. Don't just post comments. That's not nearly the info you need. There are so many variables that you can't note when you just put comments like these. Your emotions can control your note taking abilities because you're just posting your opinion at that moment. You don't need opinions. You need FACTS, so this is my suggestion.

Post entire hand histories of hands that you think are important. Include the DATE, GAME TYPE (ex: SNG, MTT, etc), BUY-IN. Here's an example:

I think it's a waste of time to take notes on a player you've never seen before, because you're probably never going to see them again. I only take notes on the players I run into on a regular basis. If someone pushes any two from the small blind when they have 5 BB, that's an example of something I'll take a note on.

For my SnG notes.. I type in the following:

If I see an interesting hand I simply type the blinds and then what was interesting...

i.e.
25/50 slowplays AA from MP

Most players (even many sucky ones) will change how they play depending on the blinds and the raises)

If you like to take notes to help you in the future, I think the blind level and stacksize is potentially important to the move being made. Don't ever worry about putting in too much information.. you will very rarely find the same people again so on the rare case you do, you'll have plenty of time to scan over your notes.

Try not to be too speculative... as mentioned above.. write down facts. Just because somebody raises 3 out of 4 hands.. doesn't guarantee that they are LAG.
