Default Do you go broke with both of these hands? ($10 PS)

WHY WHY WHY do I have to hit a bloody 6-game downswing just as I move up from the PS $5.50s to the $11s? Ya I know 6 games OOTM is nothing, standard variance, blah blah blah but why now?

On the AQs hand I meant to raise to 100 preflop but my mouse slipped and I hit call . First time I've gone out first hand!

Both hands you well played, it just looks like you were genuinely screwed.

Remember not to misclick in the future!

First hand is marginal i think
Since there was no proflop action you dont really know where you stand.
There are multiple cases here where you are marginally ahead or well behind
Overpair -villian has 5 outs on the turn and 8 on the river
A8/K8 - -villian has 5 outs on the turn and 8 on the river
5-7 you are behind and you have 4 outs
44,66,88 - you are behind with virtuall no redraws
85,87 - villian has 9 outs on the turn and 12 on the river.
86, 84 you are behind with 2 outs

Villian's reraise is such a strong overbet that I dont think he has a very strong hand, probably A8.

I think I call his flop bet and push any no threating turn card

I'm not sure I entirely understand why. A made straight or trips likely smooth calls on the flop rather than raising huge - on a 684 rainbow flop why would 66 scare off somebody who bet the pot with TPTK? Agreed that the 8 is the worst card that could have come on the turn but on the flop, discounting trips, a made straight or 86/84 (which wouldn't have come over the top in such a dramatic way) bottom 2 pair is at least 57/42 to win (if opp has 85/87) and possibly as much as 73/27 (against an overpair). Why not get it all in when you're a favourite and give opp a chance to fold?

That said, the number of times I've gone broke with bottom two pair when the bottom pair gets counterfeited...

2nd hand you gotta fold the nuts there

Hand 1 requires some hand reading exercises I think. Who raises to 100 preflop and then bets 60 into a 340 pot? On the $11s, I'm guessing it's either a timid QQ or someone hit a monster (like KKK or TTT). With either hand, you only have 3 or 4 outs. Which requires ~ 14:1 pot odds or implied odds. Just something to think about, as this hand would have been very difficult for you had an ace hit on the turn. Thus, IMO, if you're going to make a loose call here, I'm only committing my stack for the miracle T.

Hand 2: I don't know what your opponent had, but I'm guessing you're a 2:1 favorite to win the hand.

I'm not sure I understand you here ... you are saying he should fold the nuts? On the turn, he had the goods. Did I misunderstand your comment?

Yes you're misunderstanding the sarcastic tone of my post. He got his money in with the nuts and he's asking if he should have gone broke with it.

Hand #2 is a bad beat post.

    Hand #1 he played fine.

    OK, this is what happened:
    - First hand opp flipped AA, so was in fact almost a 3:1 underdog but got lucky when the 8 counterfeited my bottom pair
    - Second hand BB flipped AQ and UTG+1 flipped 88 so BB and myself would have split UTG+1's stack, but when the board paired on the river he tripled up...thanks for humouring my bad beat post!

On the second hand, I agree with Scuba, if anything but the T had hit, no way I'm committing my stack. But when I've only got to call 60 chips to see a 460 pot and I'm likely taking somebody's stack if the T hits, it may be a bit of a loose call but I think it's worth it!
