    Default Moving back down

After getting my bankroll up to around $1700, I decided that I had enough eperience and buy-in's for the $20+2 sng's. (But I did not get my whole bankroll through sng's. Made a good cash in a $16k tourney for around $600 to move me up from $965). I tried my shot at the $20+2's for the last two days and not only were both days losing sessions but my ITM and ROI is way down or negative. It seems to me that moving up is not yet profitable or is this the normal variance that I wouldve experienced anyway playing the $10+1's. WIth about $1388 left from my $1700 (those two days were rough). Should I move back down or try to play through it.

If your confidence is shot move down, but I think you have enough BR still for 22s.
    BR: $.1k
    Goal 2: July 1 $10k

IIbeatsUU: lol u raised with that?

you mini raised, therefore you desereve whatever you get....

Do you feel like you're off your A-game?

I would probably move down to the $11's for a bit to regain some confidence and tweak my play.

Give those HH a good hard look. The 22s aren't much more diff. than the 11s. If you think you are just running into variance, based on examining your HH, then you are rolled to give it another shot. Also, if you are playing a lot of tables, I would reduce it to half.

Well $1700 is a pretty good bankroll for $55's or $33's... let alone the $22's.

I'd say keep at it. Gambling with less than 1% of your stack is madness.

I'd even say if you were moving down to the $11's then cash out down to $550 ish! That money isn't working for you in your poker account.

It really depends on how many you play each day. You never really want to risk more than 10% of your BR each day playing SnG's.

How many have you played? It might me just variance.

Have you been playing with scared money? Are you playing tighter and less agressive than your normal game? Waiting for A+hands?

Look over you hand histories. Are you making sound decisions and just getting beat ( variance ) or are you say folding to agresssion where at the 10s you might have call or even pushed over the top.

You might try going down for a couple of days and study your play. Does it feel different than when you were playing the 22s?

All the above are right though you are rolled alot higher than the 22s.
You should be taking advantage of it thats why you build your roll.
Hell Im playing 22s right now and will occationally jump up to a 33 or 55 just for the WTF of it. Take advantage of the money you have to make more.

I have a hunch the up swing in the 10s is new to you and that you have lost a bit in the past.

Another option is to cash out the $$s from the MTT as I think its tainting your BR stats. ( at least in your eyes).

    Good luck.
Why is it a penny for your thoughts but
you have to put your 2 cents in??

    Somebody's making a penny!!

    Hi
I'm in the same situation. Bank roll up to 1500$ on Ring games then I started with SnGs and after 200x 11$ I was up 650$ and now just moved up to the 22$'s. After the first 30 played I was down 380$.

This is my plan from that point:

    1) A few days with no poker.
    2) Only play one SnG at a time with full focus but stay at 22$ level.
    3) Never play more than five SnGs in one evening, whatever the result. Usually I play only three.
    4) Get very strickt with your playing shape. If tired or distracted, do not play. Any feeling of tilt and you quit.
    5) If the bank roll continues under -500$ (= +150 left from the 11$'s) Then move down to regain money and confidence.

So far I have turned the curve and moved from -380$ to -190$.

I will continue this plan until I cross back on the plus side. If I can continue that curve for a while I will again try to play more than one table.

    Good luck

    That sounds really sensible advice.

I think, strangely, some people think of moving down in stakes and multitabling before paring your game back to one table and addressing the differences and nuances of the games.

I also agree with the 3-5 SnG's thing... i think after 2 or 3 OOTM you generally really need a bit of fresh air or at least a walk around the house to get poker out of your head for a bit... even if you feel you're playing well and you just got sucked out on, it's nice to take 5 mins before firing up the tourney you're destined to win

Just for the record. As I said I was down by -380$ after the first 30 on the 22$ SnG level. After using my plan given above here the next 30 played now put me up 444$ for a total profit of +64$ for 60 SnGs played. So my plan worked nicely

Nah. Comfort is what's most important. I've finally been convinced of this. Go ahead and play with less than 1% of your roll if that's what you're comfortable with. If you can't play your game at the $22s, then step back down, regain your confidence, and try again later. There's nothing wrong with going back down. Nothing.

Good luck! You'll get there, you're a good player.
