Technically your bet was not a continuation bet as you did not take the lead pre-flop and simpy called a raise.

With that said I like your play on the flop as it lets you know where you stand, however I am not sure about the bet on the turn. You have now put over 1/3 of your stack at risk with an underpair to the board.

I think the 8 on the turn helped villian decide to fold, because if he is playing two overcards he may have decided to give up the fight with a paired board.

All in all it was terribly played though as you have to make some early moves when you start with only 800 chips.

Man, I haven't posted in a few weeks...

Ehh well. As far as the hand goes, I don't mind it too horribly, and in a 1500 chip structure, I love it. The problem here is that your stack is so shallow that you've pot committed yourself with what's at best, 3rd pair. I like a strong bet when the second 8 hits, repping trips.

You're not continuation betting... you're probe betting. The problem in the hand is that with your stack size, you can't fire 200 chips into a pot, and then get away from it later. It's not exactly crippling, but you're going to be climbing uphill the rest of the way. Food for thought.

SO when you probe bet, and get called and the board pairs on 4th street... would you bet out again, if so ... How much? and when it pairs I am expecting it has to be the lowest or mid pair, not top. Please advise?

It depends on your table image at that moment. If you have been playing a lot of hands you could get called down with something as weak as Q10, however if you are seen as a tight player you could make the move.

if so ... How much? and when it pairs I am expecting it has to be the lowest or mid pair, not top.
Top pair isn't bad as long as it is a mid level or lower pair, definitely nothing higher than a 10 . As for the bet size, as Fortune 500 put it, that is a tough call due to the low amount of starting chips. With any sizeable bet you run the danger of being close to pot committed.

I guess the non specific anser would be to bet a high enough amount that you think will allow you to take down the pot while keeping it low enough that you don't get pot committed because if villian comes over the top of your bet you want to be able to let the hand go.

I think I would just play this for set value and dump it on this flop.
