I think the 300 in the pot preflop is just about worth a push. I don't play this structure and don't know the payouts, but the fact that you are "stealing" from the next shortest stack's bb makes me want to push even more(his calling range may be looser, but it is more beneficial to you to take chips from him than anyone else). If you are called, then flipping with a small edge is ok too. I think that he will call ai w/a handful of dominated hands (22-99, A10, k10s) as well. On the flop I would have played it the same.

None. He won one big pot very early and was sitting out most of the time, coming back to the game only a few hands ago.

I thought about pushing, however if he does have 2 overs it will be eaiser to push him off the pot after the flop if it misses him and picking up a ncie pot without letting him see all 5 cards

This is true, but I don't think it is enough to tip the scales. With no read I just don't see the extra 400 making up for the times you are destacked/outplayed postflop. You don't know what opp. has when it is your time to act and your line is based on an assumption that opp. has overs. If you are willing to fold then you are open to being outplayed post flop. If you aren't then you are giving good implied odds to him to take you out of the tourney. You will pick up 300 uncontested often and get ai as a favorite the other times(mostly) when you push preflop- this is better than getting an extra 400 sometimes and getting ai as a huge underdog on the flop(if he only calls when he pairs an over as you are asserting). I think that you have the best hand preflop and we are really talking about maximizing your EV. Don't underestimate the gap between hands that opp. might call your raise with, but would fold to a push(QJ/KJ/Ax/J10s...)-- all of those uncontested 300 pots add up.

You can't be ahead, you have over half your chips in the pot and he just put you all in.

    i make the same play.

So would you fold to his flop bet ?

I thought about this for a while, I think it's impossible that you are ahead. There is no draw out there and any observant player can tell you are commited to calling. I'd almost think about folding and just gambling it up with a few all ins with random cards.

    Thoughts?

I was pretty sure that I am ahead.
I have shown agression preflop and he called.
That pretty much rules out AA-QQ and probably JJ as well.

He could be having a J, but most players at this stage will check and let me dig my own grave by c-betting.

I thought that either he is trying to buy the pot hoping the J's will scare me or he thinks that he is ahead with a lower PP. So I came over the top.

WTF? He's got 1580 behind, how is he committed to calling?

As for the hand, I play it the same way. The only thing you're worried about is a slowplayed big pair. I doubt he'd lead into the raiser if he flopped trips.

I am not suprised to see this. He probably had you on two overs. The biggest suprise is that he didn't either push on the flop or fold to your raise.

I probably would have played this the same way.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

Heh, you guys should have corrected him after his first post: "he just put you all in." Pay attention people.
