Default stupid play or unavoidable destacking?

This hand has been bothering me because I'm not sure if I should've let it go or if this is just unavoidable in this situation. My first thought is that raising KQ utg was a mistake in the first place, but this table seemed tight enough to steal from here with this.

Table has tightened up recently with few flops being shown. BB is a solid player, hasn't shown down many hands, came to my table with 5K and doubled up by calling a three way allin with AK.

    Hero (t12162)
    UTG+1 (t3605)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K, Q.
Hero raises to t1000, 8 folds, BB calls t700.

    Flop: (t2150) 4, 5, K (2 players)
BB bets t1000, Hero calls t1000.

    Turn: (t4150) 4 (2 players)
BB bets 4000, Hero raises allin 10621, BB calls

    River: (t4150) A (2 players)

    Final Pot: t4150

    Results in white below:
BB has Ac Kc (two pair, aces and kings).
Hero has Kd Qh (two pair, kings and fours).
    Outcome: BB wins t24326.

    Fold preflop.

BB calls UTG raise.. Then bets flop. Do you really think he could do that with KJ/KT?

Anyway, raise the flop or fold the turn.

I don't think there really was any huge mistake here.

Raising preflop UTG with QK is fine. Does it get cracked by AQ and AK a lot? Yes - does it beat JJ- and hands like JK, JQ, etc. a lot? Yes.

The real question that I think you are asking here is can you get away from the all-in? And I think the answer is yes.

You've already said BB is a solid player, so when he calls that should be limiting your range here. Instead of calling that flop bet, I think a reraise was a better play. Reraise to 3k. If he re-raises, I think you have an easier time of dumping it - especially with 8k chips left and blinds at just 300.

The real question in this hand comes down to your range of hands for your opp. Since your read was basically non-existent, I think you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. The most probable ranges are Kx with the x most likely being an A or Q and any kicker lower being less and less likely.

I raise the flop and go from there.

getting away from the allin was definitely the question i was asking myself. in hindsight, reraising the flop to 3k seems to be a better move if I'm going to have any hope of getting away from this hand at all. although it might leave me wth a tough decision on the turn if he raises or check-raises me (which seem like likely outcomes given his holding). i guess i ruled out AK here because I'd seen him play it more aggressively preflop before and wanted to believe he was just taking a shot at me on the flop assuming i missed.

i felt i had to either fold or push his 4k bet on the turn as calling would just be too weak and he'd put me in on the river anyways at that point. 4k seemed almost weak to me as he seemed to be saying "what? you called my halfpot flop bet? now i'll bet the pot to make you go away."

at least he used his whole time bank deciding whether to call my allin.

    thanks for the input.
