Previous hand was identical, except I had top pair and he folded on turn. I have been veryloose- aggro to the point of downright awful to set up table (currently to no avail... down $5 after about 40 hands... everyone folded when I raised AK and KK)

Yeah, he was pretty new to the table. I had to go with my gut here, and my gut said he could beat a 5. but there was a non-zero chance that this was a move with air or busted draw.

    Question is... how non-zero.

Probably should have bet the river, but when he called the turn I gave him credit for something.

This is a great way to swing like a monkey (or donky?) playing 6 max.

UTG, no reads, air that caught a little of the flop, building a pot on top of it all. Change your hold cards to 75o, call the river, win showdown and you have a template for a Ripptyde post.

He had called two strength-showing bets on the flop and turn. He clearly has a better hand than you. His all-in is a bit suspicious, but he may think there is a good chance you'll call it anyway, even if a value bet might have been a better move.
