He won the party 500k today. Good for him, right? Only problem is, he used 2 accounts in the same mtt.

    Discuss.

(go to pocketfives.com to see his explanation. hint: it's bs)

I dunno... I know I'd stake my grandmother that barely knows anything about poker several hundred dollars to play in a big online tournament against fairly good competition.

The first thing he can do with his $140,000 is get lessons on how to be a better liar. What a horrible story.

I rarely play in the big $215 events so if a bunch of professional poker players are going around entering these tournaments on several accounts, it doesn't really affect me. But I think it makes online poker look bad.

He's a cheater, so no money for cheaters.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Someone should inform the website...its not fair to everyone else playing...

He's supposedly had the $140K taken from him (redistributed) and been banned from the site. If true, strong statement by Party.

    Lifted from pocketfives:

    Dear XXXXXX,

On Sunday February 12th, 2006 you participated in our $500k Guaranteed $215 Buy-in Tournament.

After the tournament concluded, our investigations team conducted an
investigation into two of the accounts that had participated in the
tournament (ABlackCar and JJProdigy). After an in-depth investigation, the investigations team; in conjunction with the poker manager, legal and management, made a determination that, based on the evidence, the two accounts had played in the $500k Tournament from the same IP address and both from the same computer.

A decision was made to disqualify both accounts from the tournament and redistribute the prize money accordingly. One of the accounts placed
1st in the tournament while the other placed 2,162nd (out of the money). In addition, both accounts have been suspended and will no longer be allowed to play at PartyPoker.com.

Each player that placed in the money has been moved up one spot,
including the player that had previously finished 401st (one spot out of the money). Although there is no perfect way to rectify this situation, we
feel that this was the best way to redistribute the money.

Previously you had placed 4th in the tournament and won $41,300.
Moving you up to 3rd place, resulted in a new prize payout of $51,800, an increase of $10,500.The additional money will be credited to your account within the next week.

We appreciate the diligence with which our players help to keep our
    tables safe and friendly.

If you have any further questions, comments or concerns, please contact
us at [email protected] and we will be more than glad to assist
    you.

    Pride goeth before a fall.

I find it laughable that so many people are commending him on his "honesty." It was his dishonesty that got him in this situation to begin with. He is likley facing so much pressure that he is feels forced to confess. I have little doubt he would still be doing this if he didn't get caught. It really discturbs me that doing what is right and confessing has become praiseworthy.

Now he is saying that he is considering taking legal action to get some of the money back. I don't know what legal grounds he has to stand on when he is in clear violation of their terms. Terms which he consented to in creating all the accounts he may have. JJ should consider himself lucky that this happened on an internet site as oppossed to a US B&M. If so, he really would need a lawyer and it wouldn't be to try and get some money back but rather to defend him against felony charges.

It's disgusting how many people are on his side here. Who cares if he's a great player, a cheater is a cheater. Just because his "friends" do it doesn't make it acceptable.

i think the only legal action he wants to take is to get his 60k back from his original JJ account. he's not trying to get the 120k back that he won on the extra "granny" account. i haven't read the rules thoroughly, but i can't imagine that party could legally seize all his cash (including cash that he won without cheating). like if he transfered 60k into his original JJ account when he opened it, it seems unlikely that they could just take it from him.

Ckoop, Party can do whatever they want with his money. He broke their rules. It's right there in the terms of service, if you cheat, your entire account is subject to getting confiscated. It's not even debatable. If JJProdigy really pursues "legal action" over this, some judge is going to have a good laugh when he throws the case out.

I think the reason people feel a little bit bad for him is that it appears he's just a 16-year-old kid. A lot of people have had the experience of getting caught cheating or stealing as kids and gotten in a lot of trouble for it (when I did, I was 9, not 16, but oh well) and most of us didn't lose $180,000 because of it.

He definitely deserved to lose his money, but now that I found out how old he most likely is, I think the hatred being directed at him is a little excessive.

Oh. Well then, how did this other player know? Was JJ bragging at the table? Not that it's right, but he should have just kept his mouth shut.

Another question - What's the difference between this and someone providing training over your shoulder while you play? Aren't you just clicking the mouse when told what to do? What if he said he just gave his grandma verbal direction instead of playing for her?
  30. #30
I'm sure he must've shot his mouth off somewhere, sometime, which was his second mistake.

His first was having two accounts on the same computer. Don't think anybody's buying the grandma story. It doesn't take a genius to see he was playing them both from the beginning.

As far as getting his roll back goes, I would guess PP is going back and looking at how many other tourneys both of these player accounts were active in together.

No sympathy from this quarter for self-inflicted wounds.

That seems to be a common trait among many of the ranked players at pocket fives. If you read their discussion board, the number of brag posts on there is astounding. And some of those guys are grown men which makes it even more pathetic.

Looks like he cheated on PokerStars as well. Apparently Lee closed his account. Apparently the kid is only 16 too.

Yeah, underaged kid makes stupid mistake, costs him hundreds of thousands of dollars, and he loses his accounts on every major poker site.

    Standard.

    JJ Prodigy...wow 16 years old

he should cash out all of his poker accounts immediately!

Then write a book about his online poker experience...! his learning, his rise, his success, his fall, his apologies

Then he should do some talking with the pokersites he has accounts with(apologize,do his time, wait till he's of age, think of a new screenname over the next 500-600 days.).then sign up with the new screenname and play under only ONE account from here on out.

JJIcarus kinda seems appropriate.... But the young Icarus, overwhelmed by the thrill of flying, did not heed his father's warning, and flew too close to the sun whereupon the wax in his wings melted and he fell into the sea.
