    Default bad call?

hi all. I'm new to sign up here, but have been reading topics on this forum for awhile now. anyways, here's a hand that i'd like to hear everyone's opinions on. After i think about it i shouldn't have been involved in the first place, but it is the call post flop that i'm wondering about. This is a low limit turbo sng on stars.

i counted 15 outs with pot odds of around 1.7-to-1, so i was a slight favourite to an overpair, which is what i put him on. should i have folded or is this a decent call?

It would be better to push here so you'd have some FE but I think calling is fine. this looks a lot like TT-KK to me. Worst case is an AA or an AK that missed and even then you've got a lot of outs.

yeah i agree with rocky i would pushed on the flop

Your play preflop is more questionable, IMO.

And on this hand, there is only 1 reason why you check this flop, it's because you want your opponent to put all his chips in.

I would have folded pre-flop. A8s early in an SNG is going to lead to big trouble too often.

FWIW, I think you need to open up your hand range here. I think lots of hands are pushing here after a preflop raise and a flop check. Hands like AJo, and even KQ. Surprisingly enough, our hero is ahead of both of those hands. I still think shoving first is preferable here. But putting your opponent on such a narrow hand range can lead to mistakes, IMO.

This guy min-reraised preflop.....I think I feel comfortable removing AJ and KQ.

thx for the input everyone. I wasn't really paying attention during my preflop play and just acted too hasty. btw he pushed with KK with one of my hearts, i missed my draw and was basically out. not that the outcome matters. thanks again.

i think given that this is a micro stakes SNG, you have to open up the range a LOT more than just including AJ and KQ. any A, any suited K, any PP would and could min reraise pf.

Yeah I like it, preflop raise is definitely questionable and I would probably fold it preflop.

Your calling of the all in is good, especially considering opponent could have avery wide range of hands, and his play denotes that he has overcards and has missed, or that he has a pocket pair of about 88 quality (giving you an extra 3 outs to the ace). Good play.

What's the buyin? I'll give you KQ tho. On average, I don't know what I think of players who reraise such small amounts (unless it's me, and then you know I'm a donk and have AA).

It's been my experience that min-reraises are often medium-big pairs like TT-QQ. Although at the microstakes I guess he could pretty much have anything.
