5R&A hand

    Default 5R&A hand

Played my first MTT in 2 months, and got pretty deep, 100th out of 1500, so I'm happy with that, lost most of my stack due to a bad beat, TT<68s, and then this situation came up. I don't have the HH, but don't think it's needed.

    Blinds: 3/6k, antes: 600
    Me in BB: 38k chips
    SB: 200k chips

    I get: J8o
Folded to SB who pushes all in.
    I call 32k chips into a ~50k pot.

SB is a little loose, involved in quite a few pots.
I have a tight image, only been involved in one hand after arriving at the table like 20 hands ago, that was the TT<68s hand.

My thinking: I probably have two live cards, and it might even be a 50/50. SB would not push all in with overpairs, but rather call and hope that I pushed. If I win this I'm at 82k chips, if I fold this and SB and waits for a hand and then double up I'll only be at ~60k chips or less, a 28k stack won't really have that much folding equity.

    Thoughts?

I realize you've only been at this table for 20 hands but have you noticed villain always raising the shortstacks BB. With his stack size he may be raising shortstacks blinds with any 2. If this seems to be case I think a call here is a good play because as you said you wont have much fold equity later on.

If it seems this player would not be raising with air, then any A,K,Q, or pair is ahead of you. Even then calling is not a bad play, but you may want to fold and just push any pair, suited connector, ace, or king into an unraised preflop pot.

    I like a fold here.

I fold and pick at least one hand to push with in the next orbit, you can still do better than J8o - you're not guaranteed two live cards.

    You gotta fold.
