    Default Slowplaying flopped trips

I get dealt on the BB in a 4-handed 5/10 game. Folded around to button who raises to $30. Now this guy is a regular at the site but he's not that good, as in he plays too aggressively and too passively at the same time, tries to trap too frequesntly with his big hands and overplays his mediocre hands. I quickly call from the SB, BB folds. 2 to the flop.
Flop comes . Not a bad flop for me. I check, villain bets $30, I call. Turn comes . I check, villan bets $75, I call. River comes a . I check, villain bets $130, I check-raise him to $500. Villain calls. Thoughts? I rarely play hands this slowly, not sure if I maximized value on this hand.

If he's playing a pp and catches his two outer for a set you're obviously screwed. Raise the flop, raise the turn. I hate saying "I shoulda bet harder" after I lose to a suckout...

I don't think a boat would be betting $130 into a $280 pot on the river.

Agree...just saying that u should always be betting trips because of the increased danger of one.

your play is transparent against good players.

play your big hands fast and build the pot. if you build the pot you can win more money.

You're right, but I think this was one of those situations her slowplaying isn't horrible. Villain isn't showing any strength, the pot's small and my hand is close to a lock (aside from a backdoor flush/2 outer hitting). Had villain showed more strength early on I would have been more apt to build a pot.

you said he can be aggressive, so do you think if you lead into him on the flop he would raise you automatically?

i know when people lead into me with a wide range of hands it gives me fits. i think this is true for most players. if he is a regular, you should be able to build all sorts of metagame stuff by making plays like this. start thinking past $50NL where you can slowplay and bust anyone who catches top pair.
