HUH? It cost you $30 to win $110. That means you would have to hit your straight just over 25% of the time to make it profitable, yet you will only hit the straight 8% of the time.
How is this giving you the right odds to chase the draw? Am I calculating something wrong here (which is totally possible).
No you have it right, its ~8% on either street, 16% played to the river. Knowing that your opponent has 97 you are about a 4:1 dog, toss in A7, 75, and 72 and your opponent could have a boat. Villain was second to act, I cant see 72, 75s i could see somebody play, A7 makes sense, 77 makes sense, so there are 3 hands really that technically could have you beat. Would they play this way? Probably not, but on the flop and turn you simply cant assume a straight will win. And again, even if the straight always wins, he still isnt getting the odds to call.
