    Default SnG, First Hand

    First hand of a $11 Party Sng--

    In the big blind, dealt 2 black queens. UTG instapushes his 2,000 into the middle. I decided to call. I gave him a range and ran it through pokerstove, but I think this is worth at elast some discussion. What do you think of the range I gave him? Given he could be an Ax fish I could have even more equity. Bottom line is I have 30 seconds dedicated to this SnG and I can start with double the stack of everyone else.

    equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
    Hand 1: 55.0378 % 53.78% 01.26% { QQ }
    Hand 2: 44.9622 % 43.70% 01.26% { TT+, AQs+, AQo+ }

    Do you think you can remove one or two hands from your hand range? Also, is it possible that it could be wider?

    I guess you can remove QQ, maybe go down to A-10? I also think this is an unlikely way to play AA-KK too.

    Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

    575,334,144 games 1.797 secs 320,163,686 games/sec

    Hand 1: 68.3981 % 68.13% 00.27% { QQ }
    Hand 2: 31.6019 % 31.33% 00.27% { JJ-TT, ATs+, AJo+ }

    I've seen ducks played this way. Anyway, my point is, if you can remove AA & KK from the hand range, that completely changes the landscape.

    But for the moment, I'll use your numbers above.

    Calling = (.68)(.1844) + (.32)(ZERO)
    Calling = .125

    Since you're playing for a $100 prize pool, folding here is the same thing as giving the guy $2.50. If on average, everytime you played this type of situation, you always called, your expected value is $2.50 on every call (assuming you know how to play +$EV poker the rest of the tourney).

    I think you're good here. He's a donk if he as aces or kings, make a note and move on.
