Default Calling short stacks with a big stack -- any Guide Lines??

Big stacks are suppose to gobble up short stacks. Right?

Is there any guide as to what % of your stack you should risk when trying to bust a shorty.

Do you also do so with minimal holdings? I'm not talking about the obvious 1BB or less call with any two, I'm talking in the range of 1/4 or more of your stack.

Heres what happened this morning. I found myself with a huge chip lead like 12k. Most others were in the < 3k range. Think we were down to under 5 players.

I catch 7,7 in early position. I raise it up 2.5xbb ( 525) and get reraised
another 1800 by the button( hes all in). I know my odds are off but I made the call and loose.

Few hands later I push A,9 suited at 2 shortys get one fold and anther allin for something like another 1500. I call and loose.

Now I'm back in the pack and end up 3rd.

Thinking I should have waited for better shots.

    Thanks.
Why is it a penny for your thoughts but
you have to put your 2 cents in??

    Somebody's making a penny!!

No. Calling the shorty with 77 was a good call in my opinion. And I assume the second hand folded to you on the button. ALWAYS push A9 Sooted into shorties on the button unless you are purposely keeping them alive because the table is tight on the bubble. Otherwise, POOOSH that A9s. Also don't be results oriented. What are you going to do with a huge chip lead, wait for Aces? You've got a stack, so use it.
There's three types of people in the world...those who can count, and those who can't.
